Hello fellow sager enthusiasts! Ive seen a couple of threads on here about the best way to enhance the audio through cards like these

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro USB Sound Card | Creative Labs Online Store

What im looking for though is, whats the best external audio system i could get knowing the problem the np9150 has with its sound card. Will i need the sound blaster to boost up the sound then get some loudspeakers? Would a usb connected or headphone jack connection make a difference?

    Thanks for all your help!

You would want a USB sound card, as for the speakers that depends on size and budget.

nope, simple way to fix the problem is, as long as you have some external speakers and any 5.1 speakers will do.
as Meaker said depending on budget the better they are the better sound you will get. im using almost 9 year old creative 5.1 speakers and they are perfect. when all running my neighbors can vouch for that.

plug the front two speakers into the headphone socket
the sub and the front into the mic in/speaker out socket
plug rear speakers into the spdif/speaker out socket and you get brilliant 5.1 sound and dont need an external xfi usb.

its the one thing that didnt show in the original user manual and as the onkyo onboard speakers are not great this is a brill work a round.

You can also use the optical out.

The headphone jack doubles as the optical out and is S/PDIF, I think it might be 7.1.
