    Hey,
So i have a 250gig WD My Book External HD (USB), however if I have it plugged in and startup my system it makes my startup take about a 1.5 minutes longer... is there anyway besides just unplugging it to make the HD faster? Same when I plug it in, it takes about 1.5 minutes to load up and be available for use.

Is it running the same file system as the on-board drives, and is it defragmented?
