I want to buy the 5793 but it has no hdmi slot. I need hdmi slot on my laptop so I can hook it up to my 24" lcd when I'm at home for more serious gaming. Is there an external hdmi hookup or something that I can plug into a usb slot or something?

    How does that exactly work?

My laptop would have 1920x1200 resolution.

My moniter will be an acer 24" widescreen lcd 1920x1200 resolution, 2ms response time, and 3000:1 contrast ratio.

Will I lose any image quality with a DVI-HDMI adapter?

EDIT: Can I have a link please?

attach the audio seperately like through a headphone jack on the tv. or it you have a sound card...

I will be getting the soundblaster x-fi 7.1 but not right away. So your saying with the laptop lid down, I can still get the sound from my sound card?

well yeah, unless you have one screwed up laptop design.

why does it have to be closed? could you not just turn off the monitor? (fn+f6) works for me

I wasn't aware I could turn the monitor off. (Haven't actually ordered my laptop yet)

Well that will save money on me buying a separate keyboard.

DVI to HDMI will send video signal only.

You have to connect the audio using the audio jacks (for analog or SPDIF depending on your TV/receiver)

I would recommend keeping the laptop open for the sole reason it would help keep it cooler. If you are tight on space and have a keyboard, then it should be ok to keep her closed. Just make sure you configure windows to not shutdown or go into sleep mode when you close the lid.

If you check out newegg.com, you can find dvi to hdmi adapters if you already have a hdmi cable and dvi to hdmi cables. Link to newegg dvi/hdmi cables

or you could hook up your external screen as well as using the built in panel and run a dual screen setup, works great, I'll never go back to single screen...

Just set it up as an extended desktop and have fun with twice the screen real estate

Another option is to wait for the M570TU to be released. It will have a integrated HDMI-port, so you don't need to use any adapters.

same with m86tu. and m570ru in a smaller, slightly faster and longer battery machine.
