Help a n00b out please!!!
I have Extreme CTX Pro (Clevo M57U) which basically died while I was working in Thailand. Being so far away from my reseller and still 2 months of my contract to see out I stripped the machine down and completed a repair myself. The laptop survived another 18 months after that and then it died permanently. In my wonderous wisdom I decided to purchase an identical laptop from fleabay so that I now basically have a complete laptop as spares for the fleabay purchase.
I am now having issues with the 2nd CTX pro throttling the GFX card down when its gets hot.
I tried the FN + F2 button to turn on the fans to max but it doesnt work like on my original CTX pro. I only get the auto fan speed which steps up speed but nowhere near as fast as maximum.
I figured that I would update the bios to see if this would allow me to use the FN+F2 but alas it doesnt.
I didnt realise that I was suppose to update the EC/KBC Firmware first so I now have Bios 1.00.06 and EC/KBC 1.00.01 and I still cant get the fan to work of the FN+F2.
I could stip the motherboard from the first laptop and put into the 2nd one but I am saving that as last resort.
Question 1. Is it possible to get the EC/KBC updated after the Bios or am I stuck as it is?
Question 2. Will updating the EC/KBC even fix the issue with the FN+F2 turning the fans to max?
Question 3. Is there any software that I can use to turns the fans to max, I have tried Rivatuner and Speedfan but neither of these can read the GFX temp or control the Fan.
Apologies if this is already posted but I have not been able to find anything that works for me
Many thanks for any assistance you guys can offer
Regards
Andy

1. Yes, please get away from that 0.1 KBC!
2. It should allow you to throttle the fans yourself, unless there is a bigger issue.
3. No. -
How do I update the KBC after the Bios has been updated each time i try it fails?

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I have a doubt if the kets are Fn+f2, normally from what I hear hey are Fn+1, Fn+2 and Fn+3.Worth trying!
And why can't you update the BIOS?Did you make a bootable USB disk and try it? -
Oh dear I am a complete n00b!!!!
I kept using the F1,F2,F3 keys
It worked when I used the normal 1 key.
Many thanks for helping this old n00b -
I did manage to update the bios its the KBC that I cant update I keep getting a file error
-
Where did you get the bios/kbc updates from?
Sometimes clevo have used old script files for the updates with the wrong filenames in them, if that is the cast it's an easy fix. -
I got them from this post

From what I read have read here the guy is a legend when it comes to Clevo Laptops.
I have now updated the GFX card VBIOS from the same thread and the card does not throttle any more.
I would love to get the KBC firware updated tho if at all possible -
As I thought, file naming error, use this fixed version and you should be fine:
