Hey was anyone else aware of the BIOS boot menu that pops-up when F1 is hit on boot-up? Apologies if this is noobish info, but I've never seen it mentioned before and presently (and pleasantly) surprised seeing it pop-up on my M860TU.

I'm multibooting Windows and Linux, with Linux on a separate drive. This means that normally I have to enter the BIOS to change my boot order every time I want to boot into one or the other. Instead of jamming my F2 key, I accidentally hit F1 this time and up pops a convenient boot menu allowing me to select which drive I want to boot from. No need for loading GRUB or other chain bootloaders!

Again, I'm not sure if this is common knowledge (not common to me anyways), but in either case it's an incredibly convenient feature!

(now if only I could get the BIOS to respect the "no beep on low battery" setting)

Which model was this under? All new models at least display the Bios and boot manager hotkeys during post so you know what they are. For new models, F7 will let you choose your boot device.

For the low battery beep, all new machines also have that as an option in Bios as well and it seems to work fine. Your OS may still have a warning noise of it's own though.

the m860tu in my sig. The F2 prompt shows boot if you disable the boot splash screen, but no hints about a boot menu.

I've set the BIOS option to turn off the beep since day 1, but it's still always beeped anyways. It's the BIOS-sounding beep, and I even tested it by draining the battery on the BIOS. Even though it's as (embarrasingly) loud and harsh as a PC speaker, thankfully it's emitted through the sound card so it's not so bad if it dies while my headphones are plugged in, but at full volume on speakers it's often been mistaken for a fire alarm! It's always done this even with the latest BIOS from Clevo.
