My frame rate has been in the toilet for the last week. I have tried to reload to newer vid drivers but no help.

    Setup is:
    9262
    Q9550
    4Gb ram
    2x200 7200 raid
    2x9800 GT SLI
    Windows XP 32

I was getting higi 90fps with COD4 everything on high and now it is down to 30-40's.

The only othere thing I know how to do would be a fresh reload. :(

LMK what else I could do.

    TIA,
    Branden

Have you checked V-Sync isn't forced on in the Control Panel?
I know it kills your FPS, might be that.

Have you noticed any abnormal HDD activity recently?

some1 actually told me about turning SLI OFF in the CoD4 options lets you get higher frames while SLI is ON in your PC as a whole, or sumtin like that... weird i know.

Johnkss That is amazing fps for COD4. I have never seen over 100 fps and it constantly drops to the 50's when I run. I also get lower fps when playing the higher vegetation levels like creek, and overgrown.

I have a similar system to yours and would think I should be within 75% of your framerate as you have the 9800 GTX sli I think.

Did you tweak anything in game to get the higher frame rate?

    What are your graphics settings?

    What drivers are you using?

    My settings are:
    1900x1200
everything is set to yes/normal except sync everyframe

I turned on the SLI which I did forget to do... and also turned off powermizer which I forgot to do.

FPS are back up and no BSOD so far with the 178.13 drivers.

My 3dmark is now 14805. Another question during the 3dmark cpu tests I only get 1-2 fps is that normal?

I would love to see 150+ fps for cod4 which I thought this is what the machine would do but ever since I had it it would only get up to 90 fps.

Also when I change graphic settings fps doesnt really change much which it seems it should. For example if I take the resolution from 1900x1200 down to 800x600 there is no change in fps. I wonder why?

    TIA,
    Branden

Well my fps are actually higher with the SLI on. Sorry if that was confusing. So what are you fps and what are your settings?

Hope that the new hardware fixed your problem.

running COD4 at 1920x1200 with max details on my 8800M GTX SLI gives me...

according to fraps, a maxed out 91 fps the entire time while I run around in overgrown map. Granted, I just started a multiplayer game and just ran around with no people but it was still maxed out most of the time.

Increasing AA to 4x still maxed out at 91 'most' of the time. Sometimes in areas with smoke/fire/trees I would see it spike down to about 70.

the 91 is maxed out on fraps. Perhaps if you used another way to measure the fps you would see higher.

    aryantes, try

    /seta com_maxfps 250

in the console. that will unlock your fps cap - it's 90 by default.
