    Hi There,

I have a Sager 9261 and my Nvidia GeForce GO 7950 GTX failed a few months ago. I've been able to still use the computer as long as I don't install the display drivers. However, I've come to the point where I'd like to replace the GPU and I was wondering if there are other options besides replacing/repairing the 7950 GTX. I really don't use graphic intensive apps anymore, so I don't need a powerful GPU. Anyways, I'm looking for the most affordable option to get my notebook back to normal. Sager offered to repair the GPU for about $300. Are there any other better/cheaper options for me just to get a different/less powerful GPU into my computer?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You!

I would go with Sager or EBAY. XoticPC wanted $540 for that card. I don't know if it was just my NP5760, but its 7950 used a unique interface and so the options were quite limited.

You could attempt to "Bake" the card to reflow the solder.

Why not at least try to bake the card may fix the problem for a while.

Simply Amazing! I baked the card for 8 minutes at 385 Degree F, and it worked! I wonder how long the solution will last though...can anyone vouch for how long this will last and if the process can be constantly repeated?

    Thanks again!

It is really only a temporary solution until you are able to procure a new video card. Continuous baking won't work forever.

Some have had them last for a long time, it is a crap shoot. You can bake it over and over if you want but there are no guarantees.
