The fan speeds are coded into the BIOS. You would have to mod the bios to change when the fans kick in. Undervolting would keep the temps down lower, and so long as you aren't overclocked, you can undervolt the 'extra' mode on the GPU. Also, use RMClock to undervolt your CPU, which will keep fan speeds down.

get a cooler

Not to sound harsh, but with high-end notebooks, it is in fact recommended that you get a notebook cooler, so it might actually be a good idea.
Also, have you tried cleaning your fan? A dirty and dusty fan would definately be very noisy, so cleaning it (I've seen some guides on doing it on this forum) might be a good idea too.
I don't really know much about undervolting a notebook, so can't help you there, sorry. -
your HDD temperature doesn't seem healthy...68 degrees is quite a bit for a harddrive!

I fail to see what you're worried about. The fact that your fans can keep your temperature a consistent 70 degrees means they're doing their job. If you don't like the fan noise, get a notebook cooler, otherwise, deal with the jet engine that your fans will sound like. They're simply working to keep your temperature at a steady 70, which is why they're louder in more intensive games, and software in games less likely to heat your system up.

My ACPI gets up to 80 C now that I have undervolted, CPU up to 70 C and GPU to 72 C. And yes my fans come on heavy when the CPU is taxed but that is what it's supposed to do. You could undervolt both your CPU and GPU and keep your temps a bit lower and then your fans might run a bit less.

i get the same temps as you but my fans dont shoot up... as far is i can tell there are only 3 levels.... Silent mode (medium which is dekstop/some games) and High (high end games )

I dropped my temps by 18 C by undervolting
-
scourge, I can't figure out how
help me out.
and if anyone figures out how to undervolt the GPU tell me. -
sorry ya......18 C on my CPU
-
Or you could build your own....put a variable resistor in the usb line to adjust fan speed.

These are my pics just before completion. Can be set down flat (under 1") or raised to 3" or 5". Cost me about $50. Keeps my X9100 and GPU very cool.
These are temps after running 3DMark 06

Cool cool, btw how much did you undervolt. RMClock only allowed me to go to 1.0125V (down from 1.3125). I think I could go further though.
It reduced fan noise pretty drastically while gaming, and the GPU only gets up to about 66 degrees celsius. now. I think I am definitely going to invest in a notebook cooler to reduce temperatures further. I also emailed the nibitor developer, hopefully he supports the 9800M GT in the next update so i can undervolt that too. -
What the hell, I have to join photobucket to view your pictures...
Can you upload them to imageshack or something, Scourge? -
Ya I went down to 1.0250v on my 11 multiplier as that wa the lowest stable v for me. And 1.0000 on the rest as 1.0v is as low as I could go even with the lower voltage tweak (I would try .8500 and others but it just wouldn't take. RMclock said .8500v but CPUZ said 1.000v)
