I dont understand the fan noise even when in silent mode and just browesing the internet the fan noise is reasonably loud i dont understand why. The fans get loud for about 10 seconds then quite down again for like 30 and then loud again

    welcome to one year ago.

seriously though, i just realized earlier this week that the laptop only does that stupid *woooooo-wee-wooooooo-wee-wooooooo* cycling when i'm browsing. it never does it while i'm gaming (i mean, as far as i can tell without getting my avatar killed).

well if you do the fn+1 and force it to high the "noise" eventually becomes background and you should be able to tune it out....

Silent mode is a little whack as far as I can tell. Basically teh way I see it is that silent mode only works if you have Fn+1 enabled. Then when you turn on Silent Mode, it becomes relatively quiet. But then I'll switch back to normal mode and it will get even quieter. When you don't have Fn+1 enabled, it actually makes the fans louder. It's basically a broken feature. It's wierd but I don't realy mind it as I run my laptop with Fn+1 all the time to keep temps down so that maybe I can make this lappy last 3.5 years.

Yeah, the cycling noise is officially back...

Hopefully there will be another fan firmware upgrade soon, to fix the bugs with silent mode and such.

Out of curiosity, has anybody ever experienced similar issues with 9262's?

The cycling noise does not seem to be a problem. On low auto it just stays low.
