    Hi all,

Just this morning, when booting up Vindictus for the first time, my fan suddenly kicked into high speeds. I didn't find it odd, since I was running the game on pretty high settings, but once I logged off the game the fan still kept going at high speeds. Even during simple internet browsing. Naturally, I tried a reboot, but as soon as the computer turned back on the fan continued at its high speeds. I can turn the fan off/on manually with Fn+1 just fine, but when I turn it back on it just continues at the same high speed. I find this worrisome, since it's not usual at all.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

When you turn it back on you're telling it to fun at full speed. When you turn it off does it go down to normal speeds, then only kicks back up when gaming?

Not sure, I'll have to check. So what exactly does the Fn+1 hotkey do? And are there other Fn+# hotkeys I should know about? Thanks.

Fn +1 turns the fans on full blast or off full blast. So when you're pushing that it turns it back on. If you push it and the slow down then they are set back to normal and should only kick to full when needed.

Ah, alright, makes sense. Anyway, I just played a bit with the fans set to normal and they didn't seem to kick to full. The CPU was at ~60C and the GPU was at ~35C.

Sometimes the fan kicks on full speed because of high temps on the PCH (platform host controller).
At least that is my theory. Since both CPU and VGA are never overheating, the only component that stays relatively hot is the PCH. Sometimes it can reach 90'C.

Anyways, it rarely happens that the fan goes full blast. Very rarely.

And Hutsady, Im pretty sure W370ET doesent feature the Fn+1 fan turbo. It was only featured on the HM series and older.

I am sure it does, since when I press Fn+1 the fan goes into turbo. What I am worried about is that the fan doesn't work on it's on, like normal. Just finished a decent gaming session and my temps stayed at ~60C (~45C for the GPU).
