    Hey all

    Long time no post!
Well i am back for help, i recently installed catalyst 14.12 omega (latest official release) to fix some dota2 loading issues. Dota2 is fixed, BUT for some odd reason now my GPU fans wont stop after gaming, either if accelerated with FN+1, which I ussually use when gaming, or if activated otherwise.
Opening 3dmark11 or other GPU using program doesnt due the trick (it used to). Also trying fn+1 repeatedly doesnt help as well.
GPU just wont turn off without a reset or shut down.
I know this is an old issue, but for some reason i havent experienced it before, and was never unable to fix it like now. I was unable to find any solutions in here or elsewhere.

    any ideas?

Havent heard of this problem yet. If you were not having any issues with the previous drivers and only have it after installing the latest 14.12 and you have not done any other changes to the system then I would think its the drivers. Revert or reinstall the previous version that you have and if it goes back to how it was then you know what the issue is.

OP, remove all Intel and AMD drivers using display driver uninstaller, install the Intel ones and then AMD ones.. Redownload the AMD ones in case your download was corrupted.. 14.12 should work perfectly tbh..

Or maybe something uses gpu, check gpu utilization by HWinfo or search for some "extra" process in task manager. If you do not find anything, then follow the advices of colleagues.

Its actually intermitent, yesterday the gpu fan stopped when i reclicked FN+1, today again i had to reboot.
I installed latest intel and amd drivers, everything works fine besides this weird fan issue.I did check that nothing was using the GPU with hwinfo.
For now i will keep testing, maybe its dissapears by itself eventually.. i remember having similar issues in previous versions and they were also intermitent
What I DID notice its that in dota2 at least the gpu utilization is no longer 99% (varies around 65%), though the fps or performance didnt change at all. I guess before the % indicator was a little bugged? anyone else noticed this behavior?
I ran some benchmarks (3dmark and 3dmark11) and noticed only slight increases in scores, no lower ones, so my guess is that everything is working fine.

It might be premature but it seems the fan problem arises only when the laptop is freshly started (from shut down i mean). If I reset at least once then it works fine with FN+1 either to start the fans or to stop them.
I am still checking the % of GPU utilization, so far every game shows non 100% constant use, although playability aint affected at all, least that i have noticed.

We haven't had this reported either. What BIOS and EC firmware version are you running?
