lol that's why in the 1st page I said running in Dx9 will get you 40-50 fps, and that was with the dx9 exe, I should have mention it x)
I'll update the original post in a few min

As far as I can tell, the DX11 features are very limited. The game looks pretty much the same on DX9 (except there are no more ugly black boxes... yay!) though I've noticed that there isn't any motion blur in instances like driving and flying a hangglider.

I get those same framerates in DX11, but what's so awesome is all the glitches are gone. Every time I tried to run DX9 in the past, it would stay on farcry_d3d11 for some reason so I assumed DX9 was just as screwed up as DX11. Now that it's actually working, the game runs better and looks better. I'm happy :D

I don't think the MSAA actually works. I didn't really see any difference between off and 8x, still had jaggies.

Even if it worked, I'll still take DX9 with no MSAA over DX11 and no jaggies but black boxes and awful framerates lol.

But you just said that you get the same FPS in DX11 and DX 9.

I don't think any of the dx11 changes actually apply since afterburner still shows it being in dx9. If it's actually running in dx11, framerate takes a hit and there's the black boxes.

I do get the same framerates when running DX9 and DX11, but only when I turn off MSAA in DX11. MSAA isn't supported in DX9 so it isn't an issue there.

What's annoying with the legal version is when you try to play the game with farcry3.exe it will ask you the SN and says it's incorrect.
If you play with the farcry3_d3d11.exe it's fine since you enter the SN there.

Yeah it's the same with the Steam version. But once I tried that, switching to DX9 in the options actually made it switch to to the farcry3 executable.

After about playing online for 15minutes, it feels like Mass Lag. Not micro stuttering, but fat intervals of stuttering every .01-5 seconds. I keep thinking its lag from the host, but it happens everygame. I would think its a memory leak, but i duno. Running it borderless, wish Full screen would work without crashing. The bootleg version works perfect played about 2 hours, demonstrated how good the game actually was, and i was impressed then Bought it and now plagues with bugs and glitches LOL. Regreting purchase since newyears. Although i hope future patches will make the game alot better. Menu system in the game is very hard to nav. :(

I'm having black boxes and crashes in dx9 and the same stuttering. Is there any other thing to be done? When I run through farcry3.exe (steam + uplay + restart game after selecting dx9 ingame) the dx11 options aren't enabled.

Are you playing in DX9? It fixes every issue I've encountered in the game.

Doubtful. DX9 fixes all the issues 7970m owners have been experiencing. Not sure why someone would rather deal with a glitchy ugly DX11 version when the better looking, better performing DX9 version is available. Whatever though lol.

When I played Far Cry 3 on my 7970m I had to set it to 1600x900 windowed on DX9 to eliminate the horrible stuttering and the black boxes. As for drivers and the like, I was on 12.11P back then. Although playing in a window was annoying and not ideal, it made the game silky smooth and responsive, letting me finish my playthrough enjoyably.

You shouldn't have to in Dx9, I dt have any stuttering and black boxes in full screen at least with the 12.11 beta

I tried the 12.11 beta11 and still got the black box issues. Like I said, the only way I could get the black boxes/stuttering to go away on my machine was to drop to the specs I specified.

Black boxes happen in dx11, not dx9. I bet if you played and got black boxes again in "dx9," you'd see it was running the dx11 executable.

You guys still getting the black squares in DX11 ? Tried with both 13.1 and 13.2 and I still don't have them. Performance with 13.2 seems significantly worse for me (almost 10 fps less than 13.1). Still crashes from time to time in fullscreen mode tho. What are your experiences? Cheers.

Same performance from 13.1, same black boxes also. I can't open far cry 3 in dx9 anymore. It always opens with the dx11 exe no matter what config you choose ingame.
Can anyone still run the game in dx9?

Very weird, I ran the farcry.exe manually till uplay asks for a serial. Close uplay and run through steam then I got dx9 back again.

Are you all sending reports to AMD? Make sure to do that so they know for sure that this issue needs to be looked at.

Hey, trick to solve this is to cut the farcry3_d3d11.exe file and paste it some place safe, and then just rename the dx9 file farcry3.exe to the dx11 file name farcry3_d3d11.exe. Worked for me, no more annoying black boxes. I'm assuming you're launching through uplay like me. I guess uplay is set to automatically load the dx11 exe, so the rename will make it open the dx9 version.

Or you could just open up the options ingame and change it from dx11 to dx9? That's what I did.

Hey, has anyone found a solution for this yet, in dx11?

I just found this thread whilst searching the forums, since I'm having the same problem with the 8870m and in my Samsung Series 7 Chronos.

ok. I was about to make a new thread about this game...but decided to revive this instead after googling.

I'm getting high temps in this game compared to other high end games. Max temps seem to touch the 90-92 zone. Is that OK? I've only had this laptop for around 2 months. Should I clean it up or something?

Secondly, the shadow boxes. It seems both the 13.6beta2 and the new 13.8beta2 have not solved this problem. I have using the dx11.exe file. I will try out the regular .exe file and see if they persist.

On a side note, can I still run the game with dx11 graphix if I use the regular .exe file?
