    Hello all,

Just looking to upgrade the 2.4 processor that came with my 9260. Anyone know what the fastest processor or of some type of compatiblity chart for my system?

Also I apologize for not searching more on my own, but if anyone knows of some quick links or references to overclocking a 9260 CPU and GPU, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

I think it will support an E8400 or E8500 after a Bios update.

Bump, also I'm sorry for being a bit lazy, but I'm looking to upgrade to 4GB of ram, what speed memory is compatible?

    Thanks again.

Sorry for asking this question again Gophn. Without a motherboard upgrade can 9260 take Q9650. I know you have said this before but I am scared. Give me confidence.

don't think so...i think you can go q6600 @ 2.4 ghz then pin mod it up to 3.0 ghz and sit right here with the rest of us....(speculation of course)

it will take a [email protected] ghz

    thats true.

if you have the first revision, I only remember people using the Q6600/Q6700 (G0-stepping) on them without issues.

So the fastest processor dual core with a bios update would be the 8500?

maybe.... I am not sure the first motherboard revision would fully support 45nm CPUs.... even if its a dual-core.

    you can test it.

I have a Q6700 for sale to go with the 7950 GTX you bought from me for SLI...

The revision to the original M/B allowed for picking up the 8800 cards. But then the 1333 fsb kinda blended in there at about the same time, for supporting the E8400 and Q9550. Then a bios update was needed for the E8600 and Q9650 to post and restart properly.

But the pin mod to the Q6600 did allow pushing the fsb on the old M/Bs to 1333 to gain higher speed for the CPU. But then Drexgo hasn't been heard from in a long time.

The only way to find out for sure would be to try it....

BTW, I have a E8400 for sale also in the NBR marketplace...

drexgo said it worked. i read where he had it up and running.
i tried it on the 9262 and it works just as well as a qx9650/q9550/q9650

so if you can get a q6600 working, then i say go for it. the chip is fairly in expensive and when over clocked, can run with the best of them.
