    Anybody know anything about it?
On my 9260, I kept getting error after error after freeze while trying to reinstall XP, because the factory f'd up my hard drive RAID setup.
When trying to see if my other 3 computers could read the disc, none could complete copy operations on a few of the files without locking up.
Based on nLite ( www.nliteos.com) not working either, I'd say I got a bad CD.

But I have no way to know for sure... I've been seeing a lot of other posts on the forum about people trying to instal XP on the newest Sagers and being dismally unsuccessful- maybe they made a large bad batch of CD's?

    Conspiracy? Coincidence?

Dumb luck or poor handling more likely.

You can easily copy a windows xp or vista disc from a friend--no copy protection. There is nothing illegal about it as long as you have your own license, which you do. Heck, you can even download them from the Internet with a little effort.

Again, though, you need your own COA and cd-key.

I'm running windows XP x32 on my 9260 without problems. I'm bandwidth limited atm or I'd burn an image for you :(

I got an XP Pro SP1 cd, retail, a few years ago.
People at sager said all kinds of gloom & doom about it frying the computer if I tried a SP1 install.

Idunno, I was just thinking it was odd that almost all the gripe posts on the Sager forum was about OS installs & drivers used during OS install. That, plus my bum CD (which isnt getting RMA'd, just the laptop GAH) made me get the whacky idea of the entire burn image that Sager puts out being wonky too.

Well, either way, it doesnt matter now. Thing's already dropped off at OOPS.
I mean, UPS. lolz. Still have that nagging feeling I should've tried that SP1 cd and saved myself some anxiety and a possible RMA.

Even so, the factory should've gotten my order right in the first place. They RAID-0'd all three of my drives (see sig). Which, according to the research I've done, means that the thing performs like 3x160GB 5400rpm'ers. Which is bad, considering the lost throughput of the 7200 rpm'ers and the 90 missing gigs of the 250GB 5400rpm. I feel I should be able to use an emergency restore CD as just that with no hitches. Powernotebooks made me pay for the shipping (with 4500 in insurance, it was a pretty penny) because they said it was my fault, even though their tech support nor Sager's could do squat.

Either way, that's not to nay-say of powernotebooks. If Sager headquarters had made the thing right in the first place, it'd be grand...

    Gee... How about that.
    Coincidence, I think not.

But hey, I'm just keeping the improved eventual system foremost in my head to keep me sane while I'm on my craptastic desktop.

Ok, first a disclaimer of the accidental triple post. My computer had frozen on me.

An update. After seeing this thread, or some other posts I made, Powernotebooks is gonna ream some butt at Sager, and reimburse my shipping, and send it back to me 2nd Day Air (originally Ground), on their dime. Donald said that he no longer believes it to be my responsibility, and so is making Sager eat it. So, I'll be getting it back sooner than I would have, and didn't have to pay for it!

    Status: Happy.

Now, I just hope it comes in with the right configuration! :p
