This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Favorites in firefox all gone :(

    Ok, what happened is like this

    i just reformatted my Sager N9750V,

    the default log in is Administrator,

    after that i sorted everything out,
    then i realised that i cant change the username 'administrator'

    so i went to
    - control panel
    - user accounts
    - create new account

    problem is,
    when i restart, everything seems to be gone
    including my firefox' favorites :(

    i didnt back it up when the administrator log in option was there
    is there any way to restore my firefox favorites?
    or is it gone like forever? :(

    Try this.

    Run firefox.exe -profilemanager

    Then start it up with the default profile. Your settings should be back.

    Your bookmarks are still there. They are just in the administrator's profile.

    Log in again as administrator and copy C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.default\bookmarks.html to C:\

    Log in as your normal user and grab your bookmarks file from C:\

    Copy it to C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.default\

    --

    If you want everything else back, copy them from the Application Data and Local Settings folders, both hidden in the Administrator directory.

    Something is happening to my computer....Gateway laptop.....
    Noticed last 2 days that I can't save anything to my favorites....then I realized my favorites were gone....I don't have them anymore. Not sure what I did to create that.....I was using a trial of Zone Alert....Help, if you can.
