I just received my NP9150 through XoticPC and am considering sending it back for replacement or repair...

I've heard stories that the touchpad is "bad/okay/passible" And being a network admin have worked on hundreds of laptops in the past and am easily adaptable but I haven't seen a touchpad quite this bad... Let me explain.

Two finger zooming is practically impossible... As you zoom in, the direction *reverses* and it starts to zoom out.. then reverses again and tries to zoom in... I'll lift my fingers to reset the motion and try again but it almost always starts reversing and reversing again. A pita for sure.. If I were to record a video of it happening you'd think my screen was having convulsions or someone let their two year old play on their laptop.

When scrolling (two finger or one), it will work fine mostly, then pause and then jump all the way down the bottom of the page... or top... Depends on its mood.

Is this common? Can you guys try this and see if this happens on yours machines?

A good test is to keep making small circles on the touchpad... Mine will pause every 4 seconds and then jump a few inches in one direction and then continue... Non stop every 4 seconds it will do this..

It's a brand new clean, self-install of W7... I've downloaded the latest drivers from Sager... When that didn't work got them from Synaptics directly.. adjusted sensitivity to where it is *just* bearable but I still can't zoom in due to the reversing directions...

This jumpiness happens on the stock windows driver as well.

I even tried upping the process priority of the touchpad driver...

Love everything else about the machine but when I use the touchpad... It's so bad, it's maddening...

Can you guys try this on yours and share what you find? Being a gaming laptop, I'd hate to send it back for this. But I do use the touchpad a lot when I'm not gaming... Want to see how common this is before I consider sending it back for repair..

I don't have a 9150, but on my 8150 after a clean install of win7 + latest drivers, I had problems with the touchpad as well.

When I was just using it normally to point at things, the scroll function was being engaged even though I wasn't going near the boarder of the touchpad (so that shouldn't cause scrolling).

It was so bad that I could only use the left 1/2 of the touchpad. I checked all of the settings in Synaptics, reset everything, but it didn't help.

So now I use the touchpad without the Synaptics software, it works but I don't have those nice features that you get with their software.

I do have a 9150 but my track pad does not do that. It's not the best track pad I've ever used, but mine works better than many. Have you tried the drivers from the disk? Those are working fine with my track pad. Maybe try reinstalling those drivers. And if you are still having the problems, then maybe, sadly, you do need to contact Sager and get it fixed.

I don't have any of the issues you described. I have not done a clean install.

    Let us do a test.

Use your figer to point on the touchpad. Do not move and see if the cursor is moving or shaking.

If not, you can try to re-install the touchpad driver again.

If yes, then contact Sager Service department.

Thanks for the replies Moral, Always, Apu, Prostar. I've tinkered a bit more with it and I've managed to get it more "bearable"

Prostar, it is mostly fine with one finger. If I use two fingers (for scrolling) and don't move it will sometimes jump a bit. With one finger making continuous circles, it will pause and jump every four seconds without fail... Strange at how regular that is..

I've loaded an app called two finger scroll that has helped the two finger scrolling smoothen out a bit. And then made some other setting adjustments in that app.

As a result the zooming works a bit better --it still reverses direction often but isn't as spastic as before so I can compensate for it.

The machine is nearly perfect otherwise... I'm trying to decide if it's worth the hassle of sending it in for repair... It's something the repair person can miss if they don't look for it specifically..
