Hey everyone, I just made an account here because I'm selling off my desktop gaming rig for a portable solution. The laptop I have in mind is either the 15" Sager NP5165 or the 17" NP5175. Which one would you recommend? The 15" or the 17"? I know the pixel density will be less on the 17", but I would just like to hear everyone's thoughts.

Additionally, these laptops have an option while being built for an additional hard drive to replace the optical drive bay. My question is this - how easy would it be to replace that manually? I have a Mushkin Callisto Deluxe and I would like to use it as a boot drive.

    Thanks so much, everyone!

    1. Sager laptops are still Clevo units dressed up some.
2: for gaming it really depends I dont game nor does my husband but I normally prefer a 17" for most of my work and have a smaller computer for portability
3: it is easy to put your own drive in the optical bay if they are tray load and not slot load. get a mediabay adaptor off e-bay and swap it with normally a single screw on the bottom of the laptop.

What kind of games do you play, and what are your preferred graphics settings? If you want to play current (like BFBC2) and future games on max/ultra, then the 555m might not be the ideal choice for you. If you don't mind medium-high settings, then it should be fine.

For screen size, it's all dependent on your usage and personal preference. If you want to be more portable, the 15" is a better choice. If you're one of the many people out there that don't really care for the 1920x1080 screen on a 15" display, then the 17" may be better.

For replacing the optical drive, it's pretty simple. You can order the machine from most resellers with just an HDD caddy in the optical bay. You'd have to mount your drive in the caddy, slide it in, and screw in the one retaining screw in the HDD compartment to keep it from sliding out. (and possibly mount the drive cover to the caddy to make it blend in with the laptop)

Your gaming requirements would be good to know.
What games and at what settings would u prefer ?
Just wanna make sure the laptop is perfect for your needs.

Whether 15'' or 17'' is up to you, best bet is to go to bestbuy and play around with both sizes. See how you like it and make decision yourself.
