    Hello,
I'm looking to buy a 2092 at XoticPC, but i have few question before i go for it:
    • I heard that Xotic doesn't offer rebate for student, is that right? even about the shipping?
    • I'm in France, so i have to choose between INTERNATIONAL USPS Global Express Mail and the INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL UPS Express
shipping method. Is one better than the other? And i'm not sure but i have no more taxes to pay or anything else, just the shipping cost, isn't it? (around 250$)
    • If i have to send the laptop back (for any problem) i will have to pay the shipping i think...
    • I would choose a custom skin. Will Xotic contact me to know which skin i want? or should i precise it at the end of the order?
    • Last question ^^, how long do you think will i have to wait for it (assembling + painting + shipping)? I need my computer before the 11 August.

Thanks a lot for your help and the time you took to read me.
(And sorry for my poor english)

Pourquoi pas poser ces questions directement à quelqu'un qui travaille chez XoticPC? Les intermédiaires ajoutent un risque de recevoir des réponses inexactes ou carrément fausses.

Ok, here are answers to your questions in the same order you wrote them:

    1. I think there is no rebate for students but check with XoticPC.

    2. Can't help you with your shipping question because I've never shipped to or from France.

    3. AFAIK, XoticPC and PowerNotebooks and other US-based retaillers offer a domestic warranty which means that a warranty-covered repair will have shipping paid by whomever has to fulfill the obligations of the warranty. However, both end-points of the shipment must be in the US. That's what domestic means in this case. So yes, if you have to ship the laptop from France for repairs you'll have to pay for shipping. Also think about the time it will take to get to the US and back.

    4. Ask XoticPC.

    5. Ask XoticPC.

    Poor English? Where?

Is there not a reliable reseller in Europe who could sell you what you want? It seems to me that would eliminate the headaches with shipping.

    Thanks for your fast answers.
The same computer in france is 300 bucks more and without painting. And i know that if i buy a XPS for example, i won't like it anymore after few months. Which won't probably the case with this sager.

Excuse me for a moment while I "shout" this out at the top of my .... fingers (you may want to cover the eyes of any nearby children or those with weak constitutions :D ):

IF YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY, DO NOT USE THE US POSTAL SERVICE, AKA USPS; INSTEAD, USE A RELIABLE PRIVATE SHIPPER LIKE UNITED PARCEL SERVICE (UPS), FEDERAL EXPRESS (FEDEX), DHL, OR THE LIKE.

Ok, sorry about that, but what Nirvana says is true; it get's worse, however, because about the only thing at which USPS excels is losing packages - if you want to hear all of the gory details of another European's travails with USPS, pm 6edo and ask.

ok, i didn't saw that it was uSps. I was thinking that it was two options from UPS.
Are there other people who would warn me to buy a laptop in the US from Europe? Or it's not a really big issue...?

I think you've been warned on the only two big issues:
    • Shipping - it shouldn't be a problem so long as you avoid USPS, and
    • Warranty Claims - it'll have to be shipped back to the States, and you'll have to pick up the bill for the international shipping.

The only other point is the foreign exchange rates, but right now those seem to be in your favor. :D

If you just got a skin, not a full-fledged paint job, it should only delay your order by 3-7 business days. Add that on top of their estimated build time of 3-7 business days, then add shipping time, and you got a rough estimate of when you'd get it.
