Hello, my laptop recently imploded and while researching my options I found the 9130. Because I've never really heard of Clevo or its various resellers before I was hoping I could get some advice.

    1) Of XoticPC, PowerNoteBooks and Malibal which resellers would you recommend? So far I'm leaning towards powernotebooks as I can get the cash discount by paying through BoA and there is a $25 student discount (although this may apply only to orders over $1500). I have heard good things about Malibal but the default screen is backordered to June 7th and I can't afford the $95 to upgrade the screen (I'm trying to keep the price under $1200).

    2) I noticed that xoticpc offers the option to save $50 by downgrading from 8gb 1600mhz ram to 8gb 1333mhz. Do you think that doing so would significantly affect performance or would it be worth it?

    3) Will there be any significant discounts soon for memorial day that it might be better to wait for? Because my previous computer died I need a new one rather badly but being a college student I also have a rather tight budget

Oh... I have a bad feeling about this thread. But to answer the first two questions, reseller wise check the reseller section of the forum where it holds all the feedback people have been giving back about each reseller, I should note right now read the entire thread especially those about malibal, I personally believe each side had faults. -- on a personal note I can vouch for xoticpc, and many others will tell you they have an amazing customer service (very biased).

For your second question no absolutely not, generally a 1-2 fps difference under stress so if your a student you should save out on it. Edit: this http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/sandy-bridge-ddr3_7.html#sect0 article gives you an idea on how much ram affects gaming

    1. Malibal offer $100 off for over $1500 I think. I would actually recommend the upgrade matte screen, so much better than the default screen. I would also recommend going to the p150em-se/9150em, the finish is better and you can upgrade to better gpu down the road if needed.

    2. 3-5 % difference running benchmark, I doubt you can feel a different.

3.you should pm a few retailers and ask about discounts.

May I ask why you have a bad feeling about this thread? Am I missing something? Also, would anyone know if XoticPC will also allow direct payment through BoA?

You should pm one of their representatives like Hutsady or Justin, or you could also contact them through there live chat for payment inquires discounts and etc.

As for my statement it wasn't intended towards you necessarily, simply that people have recently arguing over petty things at the slight mention of things.

Ah, ok. Thank you. I don't suppose you'd know about the BoA deposit for XoticPC?

Also, in reply to MK017 while I wouldn't mind having an upgraded screen I'm on a rather tight budget (at least relative to others who might be looking at these kinds of laptops) and can't justify the expense when the standard screen is perfectly serviceable and I don't plan on using it for any kind of photo or movie editing. For much the same reason the P150EM-SE is also out of my price range.
