1) who makes the motherboards for the sandy bridge cpu, from what i understand clevo is the one who does this and other brand company's "borrow" there stuff and we have names like m17xr3, sager series, malibal series, etc... If there are any other motherboards for the laptop designed by another source with sandy bridge or with previous generations, would be informative to get an idea.
2) currently sandy bridge only supports 1 video card from what i see, is there an estimated ETA for when a sli variant of sandy bridge, for example sandy bridge and 2 485m's
3) what is a 485m equivalent to in current desktop line ups? from what i understand it's about on par to a gtx 470/gtx 285 desktop, i spend alot of time with high end desktops so it would help me get an general idea of the performance to expect.
4) i've seen some company's selling 485m sli with desktop processors such as 975 extreme i7 cpu's, i take it sandy bridge laptop variant still would out beat these yea?
look forward to the replys

so your saying the desktop i7 enabled laptops are superior to the laptop sandy bridge models that just came out, so no need to wait and just go for one of those since they already have 485m sli.

But do you really need a desktop CPU? If your just gaming with the laptop, you definitely dont need a desktop CPU.
Also a small addition to what JonnyFlash said: The GTX 485M is an underclocked GTX 560 (not 460 as it has the full 384 shaders, GTX 460 has 336). -

well again at this point it's "YOUR" recommendation, i'm a extreme overclocking enthusiast in the desktop segment and bleeding performance is all i care for, i will undoubtedly as i do all pc's tune the crap out of them.
So any performance i can squeeze i'm in for it, i'm one of those 3dmark guys that uses -0 phase off course, problem is i'm going to be doing some traveling in the upcoming months so i can't bring my desktop with me, if you get my point, so i'm looking for the best of the best, engine wise off course, important being the CPU/GPU/RAM SPEED/MOTHERBOARD, but i doubt we have much control like the desktop market for the motherboards and as for ram speed, i'm not sure if there's many aftermarket speeds. Monitor also is nice.(speed variations in processor, don't matter to me much as long as the tech is the same including cache, gpu's i believe all have only 1 variant unlike so many overclocked models in the desktop"
Hmm... i guess i should give it a little wait to see when sandy bridges revisions are and sli support before i compare... i guess... we'll see... -
