Feels like it took way to long to get to this point! I talk with one smart nerd about my placing my order because I was worried about missing out on the BTS Sale they have going on. I will have the money to send next friday, so he told me to go ahead and submit the order today and then I can send the money when I can next week.

I can't wait to see how this purchase goes, because I'll be making another in the jan/feb time frame that will be an all out monster. It will be my workstation for CAD and gaming powerhouse.

This one is just gonna get me through until then, at which time this laptop will become 100% the property of my girlfriend.

I'm stoked! She should be too considering its leaps and bounds better then her POS Dell 15R we are currently dealing with!

Only change to this is having them change from the Cuicial M4 to a Samsung 830, which at the current pricing is actually $5 less! I was going to order the Razer Orochi and U3 cooler through them right away but via amazon I can save $20. Being a broke college student, I have to save where I can!

out of curiosity, how did you ultimately come to decide on the 7970?

Well, knowing this will ultimately be my girls laptop - I know even crippled it will be far more then she will ever require. On my end, I am hoping the additional power shown on some of the CAD benchmarks will be something I will come to appreciate. And at the end of the day, if it doesn't perform all that well in games - when it comes time to buy my laptop - I know its going to have to be a 680M or whatever else has rolled along at that time.

But, I'm also putting a little faith in the fact that they will ultimately fix this thing and we will get a beastly little performer.

    Time will tell.

ooh, you're the guy from the other thread. yea i was first to reply and say go 675m but later revised my suggestion to the 7970 after seeing the tom's hardware article i posted which listed those CAD benches. i'd still be a little leery of the under-utilization issues. take advantage of those first thirty days to make sure it's not too much of a headache. but hey...

lol yeah. I'm sick of working on her POS Dell 15R. I need a new laptop and she needs one. So I figured by getting something that we could share until I can get what I really want, I could kill two birds with one stone for now. Plus she'll have a laptop that will last her a really long time!

Not really a gamer. Had to be a 15". She doesn't like anything bigger and doesn't want anything smaller.

Basically got the power so it will suffice me till I get mine in a few months. Not to mention its nice to have a nice back up laptop around the house.

that's the display size. there's quite a difference in form factor between a 15" gaming laptop, a 15" notebook, and a 15" ultrabook. there's also the 180W PSU. if she's not really a gamer you could save yourself quite a bit of money to go toward what you're ultimately looking for and also get something that suits her needs much better. now that's two birds. does she plan to take this with her anywhere (e.g. school or work)?

    EDIT:
nevermind. this is none of my business really. sorry. haha congrats on a nice rig though.

Yeah... that and see my final statements. It is two birds for me. The sager hardly is any other form factor then what she currently has except it has more power. The power brick for this thing isn't exactly tiny either. And its a pile.

the 9150's going to feel quite a bit bigger than an inspiron. there's dual coolers/fans in the sager. and i think you'll find the power brick to be a little heavier than what she's used to.

Just got confirmation that my payment was received via Chat from the guys at Mythlogic. I feel like I'm a hemroid to those guys sometimes, but the anticipation of them getting my Money Orders was to much to handle. Had to ask via chat and was told I'd receive an email later tonight. Now starts the most painful part... waiting for the build to complete and burn in to finish. Ugh... I hope they have everything needed and it ends up being a quick build! I can't wait to get this thing in my hands!
