Ok, finally got it in... The laptop is awesome. I love it...

I installed the factory drivers off disk - no wireless showed up. Plugged it into the eithernet cable and got on - went to the link I got on the 8170 thread in here for updated drivers - downloaded the intel advanced 6230(or320?) drivers and installed. Got about 90% through and then said ' there is a program missing that is required to finish this install - please contact your manufactorer'.

The system is recognizing a JMicron LAN device and an 'unknown device'..

I've tried going into safemode - device manager - removing the drivers for the network and unknown device but each time I restart, they are back where I last saw them..

What am I doing wrong? Is there a step by step process out here on the forums that I could get a link to?

    Thanks guys.

    - J

this might be a stupid question but over the years many people have forgotten to do this....

Fn & F11 key turns wireless on (ignore the direct f11 link)

Lol.. that was the FIRST thing I tried - FN+F11 brings up in top left corner "Off" every time I click it - it won't ever switch to on...

FN+F12 brings up On/Off for the bluetooth but I've never ever used bluetooth in my life. I could really use some help here - as, the laptop is virtually useless until I can have consistent internet access.

Judging by his response, I imagine the wireless driver was corrupted. Hence why he couldn't enable his wireless.

I always recommend obtaining the latest drivers directly from the manufacturers website. Relying on drivers that come on a CD is never a good idea, as they can be outdated by months or even years.
