    HI everyone,

I got my Sager NP8956 (CLEVO P950EF) from GenTechPC not too long ago and I've been trying to get the fingerprint scanner to work.

I got the latest driver from Sager support but Windows is saying that "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with your device" and there aren't any biometrics devices listed in device manager.

I tried emailing Ken but he didn't respond.

Does this model even have a fingerprint scanner? It said so on the website.

    Thanks for the help

EDIT: He responded after I tried emailing him again... will update if this gets fixed.

AFAIK the "Gamma Secure Pad" is actually an option and not default. Most resellers I've seen have gone with it, but Sager may not have.

You could try using a newer driver from a 9th gen machine to see if that works instead. The touchpad hardware is identical if it is indeed a gamma pad.

The fact of the matter is that I specifically selected a fingerprint scanner when I made my order at GenTechPC and my invoice says it has an integrated fingerprint scanner. They may have just forgotten to include it i guess.

The touchpad is integrated into the base chassis that gets shipped from Clevo. A more likely explanation is the cable for the fingerprint scanner is not connected correctly (or at all).

I'm comfortable opening it up and working on it but I'll see what Ken says before I get in the laptop. I had some aftermarket stuff put in it and I can see how it's easy to forget a cable during reassembly.

    Thanks for the help
