I have this issue happening out of the blue where the fingerprint reader constantly disconnects, only to reconnects itself moments later. when it disconnects, it will give me an error message that "fingerprint device is not present" whenever I tried to open the protector suite software.

At first, I thought that it was a driver issue, so I re-installed the fingerprint driver. But after several reinstall, the issue persists. It's not actually problematic, but it's really annoying to hear a constant device connection / disconnection notification sound every several minutes.

Anyone ever had the same issue, or have any idea about this particular problem? Does this mean I have a hardware issue (i.e. the cable connecting the fingerprint reader is somehow became loose)?

Mine did the same thing a couple weeks into getting it. I opened up the case to ensure the cable was still connected and it was. At this point it's not even recognized by the device manager as something there. Since I never use it I never bothered to use the warranty on it but it sucks having a defect.

EDIT: Also, I think heat may have played a factor, as if I touch my fingerprint reader it is SCORTCHING hot.

yes, I also use it very sparingly. As I said before, it's just really annoying to hear the notification sound over and over again. Should it really is unrepairable, I would rather sever the connection and let the fingerprint reader be a dummy.

I don't think heat was the issue, though. I had the same hunch as you before, but I noticed the problem happens even when I started cold boot, with the all the surrounding area around the fingerprint reader is cool. And mine wasn't really hot at all.

huh, it might be a software error after all. Now, whenever I open the fingerprint software, it shows the following error message:

anyone have any idea about this?

    chances are it's faulty hardware.
