I would like to get the fingerprint reader working under linux (Ubuntu) simply because it's there and I like challenges...a side effect of using a linux-based system. Fprint does not recognize the type of reader on this Clevo and there was mention on Google of a challenging modification of 'pam' (with ArchLinux). If someone who has actually got it working could point me in the right direction to a guide...
Note: I realize that there is a Clevo/linux forum here, but it doesn't seem to be very active.

On a side note, before I remove the THX/HDMI stickers by force, what is the best method on the rubberized finish?

I don't know the answer to your first question, but I removed my THX/HDMI stickers with Goo Gone. I'm sure anything similar would work. It didn't leave any residue or damage the finish at all.

Thanks Kuril, I'll give that a try. As for the other challenge, I don't expect to find a solution. It is only an interesting novelty, as a fingerprint reader is not a very secure form of authentication.

Its a standard UPEK fingerprint scanner. When we do linux installs we make it work just fine using fingerprint-gui. Its all integrated and nice (Ubuntu BTW)

Thanks for the reply and solution, mythlogic. I did install that ppa before, but was getting ' no files found'...forgot that I was using Precise Pangolin :( . When I restarted in Oneiric, it worked. Embarrassing moment....
