The fingerprint scanner on my M860TU is always insanely hot. It is pretty ridiculous. I don't really care too much as I don't use it but it is pretty crazy how something your supposed to touch in order to use could be so hot. Its like "woah!" hot even when my laptop is idle.

I actually tell people to touch the fingerprint scanner as a practical joke. It really isn't too big of a deal as the scanner is indented so I don't feel when I'm clicking.

Anyone else having this problem? I guess it is just in a bad place, but this kind of defeats the point of a fingerprint scanner.

Although windows 7 doesn't work with the scanner's drivers anyways, but still I just can't believe they would have such poor thermal design for the scanner. This is pretty much the only flaw I have found in this PC, and this is tiny considering that I don't even care too much about the scanner. Love this laptop, you can tell that the design is extremely refined.

it's normal mine get super-hot but no where near burning, I alway's tough it was the component under radiating. And by the way the fingerprints work perfectly under windows 7 you just have to download the Protector Suite 2009 preview for windows 7 beta from upek and the driver from auto-update works with it

Mine gets pretty warm but I use it frequently, I thought it was strange since I only use the notebook on a cooler.

I just received my NP8662. And the fingerprint reader does get hot. Not sure if I should be worried about it and ask for replacement.

Did you guys found out if this was normal?
