I bought a Clevo P150HM about a year ago (specifically from Malibal) and I've been extremely happy with it. However, a few days ago I noticed that my fingerprint scanner has stopped working. The machine doesn't seem to recognize it, even though it shows up in the control panel.
Usually when I boot the system I get a log-in screen that asks for me to scan my finger, but recently, no matter how many times I swipe my finger, nothing happens. I don't get a failed message, I just don't get anything.
I am also unable to access my "Personal Safe", the fingerprint protected folder that I believe is a default feature of these computers.
I've checked my drivers and I'm really curious what the problem might be. Has anybody else experienced this problem? Or have thoughts about a possible solution?

well, the most straight-forward solution right now would probably be to just uninstall all software and drivers pertaining to the fingerprint sensor and install the newest software and drivers found here:

    Protector Suite 2012 WBF Version

    WBF Driver for TC Readers

try and see if that helps!

Please try to re-install the driver again.

If it is still not working, you need to send the unit back to Malibal for service.

must admit im finding AuthenTech true suite not as good as protector suite QL that was on previous clevo lappys.
no matter what i try after sleep the swipe just doesnt want to know. normal boot up swipe works fine most of the time.
even when ive set a finger up it can take upto 15 swipes before its registered. im wondering if its because the sensor is deeper set into the touchpad as on my previous m860tu its almost flush.

I found the fingerprint reader on my brand-new NP9170 pretty deeply-set too. I haven't been able to register a fingerprint with it yet as it keeps telling me it's not getting a good image. Finally I just gave up and went with Keylemon face recognition. Pretty cool being able to unlock my laptop just by looking at it!

You can adjust the sensitivity of the recognition algorithms to make it more forgiving of different lighting conditions. This reduces the security of course, but it's a tradeoff between security and convenience, and anyone who's REALLY concerned about security should not be using biometrics anyway, or at least not SOLELY biometrics.

As for the time it takes to load on startup it's nearly unnoticeable on my cruddy old laptop, and COMPLETELY unnoticeable on my new speed demon.
