I just don't use my notebook without plugging it in. I even have a spare power supply so that I can leave one at home and always travel with the other. So this model sounds great. It'd be hard to step down to 15 inches from 17 though...

I want to see a review of the production model... that one claims to have a 260 and the leather textured palm rest.
-
Shame about the screen brightness.
-
Britghtness is a deal-breaker for me.
-
Holy lord, Notebookjournal.de really slapped on the thermal compound. I hope that was a non-conductive cermaic compound!

Thanks =D -
I'm soooo glad they got rid of that faux leather palmrest on the production model.
-
OMG! What a tease. I think it looks so much cleaner and better without the fleather palmrest also.
-
Any one who complains about screens and portability needs to use a m17x
and I am with u Kevin that was horrible design
Clevo did well and I hope the keep this design and continue to improve. Also I would not trust notebookjournal to every little fact .... But any information we can get now is good -
alli have to say is..
What the hell happend to this laptop in the past month or 2.. it looks horible now.. compleatly unviewable... thank god i didnt wait for i7 15inch..
they hid the ugly dimentions and bloated high of this well.. it looks like its almost 2inch high which is compleat madness for a 15inch.
Looks like ill be trying to keep my M860tu running well for another 2-3 years...
i plan to give it a Yellow Full body matt paintjob and put a new GPU/CPU/SSD/6gig mem/Mabye even a ELED in it when i can decide/options become avalable..
faily sure a Duel running at 3.3 or so and a new gen GPU from next year or the year after will keep this baby serving me well for the Life of Diablo3//SC2
but hey im a sentimental guy... but god hell i wouldnt get sentimental with that laptop.. thats a joke of design CLEVO CRYSIS IS NO LONGER COOL -

Clevo keep it simple bro
ill come back in a year when we actualy need a powerfull gaming laptop and out benchmark you.. cya later mr hostile ruski! -

I never have buyers remorse over aesthetics; I'm a minimalist kind of guy. Personally I think it's a nice notebook. Yes, it's a bit louder than the M860TU, but it's still well within a very professional profile.
When you come back in a year, the same "ugly" notebook will still be here. I can care less if you out benchmark my notebook; I'm not a benchmarker. I haven't run a single benchmark in months. Just know that I am thoroughly happy with my notebook while you are still griping about your M860TU and even it's successor. And I do not wish to waste my time and reference dozens and dozens of your posts to prove it. -

Clevo should think about releasing focused literally on gaming-on-the-go. Maybe something like the HP envy 15, or the first 14" notebook with a high performance card ever.
-
Asus used to make a 14" with high performance graphics...
-
I actually really like the look. -
I hope for your sake that you are either <15 years old or English isn't your native language.
Wait...nevermind.
I hope for your sake that you are both <15 years old and English isn't your native language.
I kid, I kid. -

It would be difficult to put top tier components into a 14 inch chassis. The number of compromises that would need to be made in attempting to engineer such a notebook would be substantial.
-
They were high performance discrete graphics for their time. ie 8600M when 8800M was the best.
-
I like to think that without an ODD drive, it can be possible to cram something like an ATI 4860 into a 14" chassis without cooling problems. Then again it might be easier to just have an external graphics solution. We'll see.

Oh this is completely doable in a 14" chassis.....
Of course it would be 6" thick, but hey! -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I'd love to get my hands on a six inch thick notebook. That way I can make Tough Book users feel less manly.
-
Take out a odd and you could work wonders

There are benchmarks of W860CU at Xotic PC forum. There is temperature of CPU up to 90C after 3D mark and some games!!!
I dont think its safe temp, where would the temp go after wprime or orthos???? -
Hmm, NotebookJournal maxed in the low 80s with a 920QXM, running ATiTool and WPrime simultaneously.
-
Yea 83C looks better, maybe its because of GTX 280M .... what is max safe temp of these?
-
Thermal spec is 100°C.
-

That thing is running as hot as the i7-975 in the NP9280, yowza.
I'd like to see an OCCT CPU burn in for 10 min to really see where that puppy goes. I know the 975 in my NP9280 maxed out around 88-90 with OCCT. -
i have not seen any one with a m15x run OCCT most just sent it back because it sucked
you guys have to remember that these do have 44 and 55 w TDP's
IMO nothing to write home about with this gen -
electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Well, for the few who didn't drop kick their M15x's back to Dell, it would be interesting to see their temps as I've yet to see a 15" with a 44w+ CPU run quietly AND cool yet under even medium load.
I have seen many 17"+ laptops run cool and quiet, though. (Then again, there is the m17, ugh..............) -
-
watch out on the notebookjournal.de review. It looks like they still have the plastic shipping cover over the screen which will make it look even more glossy and reflect more making the screen look darker.
-
I would clean out the fans and apply some new thermal stuff, but I don't have time for that b'cause I'm so cool. -
-
This is the same as the NP8690, rite? How's the keyboard, it's recessed, isn't it?
-
cookie, are you talking Fahrenheit or Celsius? 105c is ridiculous. You could bake a damn pizza in there.
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
I don't know about you, but most of my pizzas need ovens hotter than that. But anyway.
Way, way high temperatures. When your card self-downclocks it's only a few degrees away from permanent damage.
