Hi all,
So, I recently got a P870TM-G barebones system with a single GPU and moved in all my old components (plus a CPU) from a P775DM3-G. I've got the cables and the dual-card cooler ready to go but the P775DM3 card is running an older vBIOS which I'm told won't work with an 8th-gen i7/Z370 motherboard (in the P870TM).
I have one GTX 1080 that already has the right vBIOS but I can't for the life of me get either GPUz (it says the card doesn't support BIOS reading) or the latest (5.469.0) nvflash to pull the vBIOS out of that one to put in the older one. I can't even backup the old one with a bootable DOS flash drive with nvflash. I used to be good at this, back when the 8800 Ultra was high end.![]()
tl;dr What's the best way to go about backing up the vBIOS from each card then flashing the newer one to the older card? Is that even the right thing to be doing?
Thanks in advance.

So, for anyone wondering or wanting to do the same kind of thing... It seems that to upgrade a P870TM to P870TM1 with an older card (from a DM series notebook) you need to:
1. Get the extra power cable, SLi ribbon, extra power and the dual-slot cooler.
2. Get the GOP updated on the old card (file attached, thanks to @dsanke), flash the SLi version. It won't work in the TM series until that's done. <- I am here.
3. Make sure the newer card is also using an SLi vBIOS (if not, flash it).
4. Install both cards.
5. Enjoy SLi!
Also, do check out this thread, lots of useful information on upgrading to the newer platform. I'll update when I've finished the procedure.Attached Files:

I think SLI require both card have the same vBIOS version . The card came with TM series have OC vBIOS which have higher freq and TDP . So you can backup vbios from TM card then flash to DM card for compatible , but have chance damage card because the overclocking and higher TDP ( some people say they got their card damaged but I think these a little overclocking won't damaged any card ) if your card can not work stably , you can flash back to the older non-OC vBIOS .

There are 3 vBIOS series I've found for clevo GTX 10 series cards.
1.Earliest came with DM2/DM3 , non-OC , GOP (UEFI)version = 0x30002. You can use Mobile Pascal TDP Editor to edit its TDP .
2.Came with late period DM2/DM3/KM and early TM , GOP version = 0x30006 , overclocked . You can use Mobile Pascal TDP Editor to edit its TDP .
3.Came with newer TM ,overclocked , GOP version = 0x30009 .You can not use Mobile Pascal TDP Editor to edit its TDP .
And my provided vBIOS is the earliest , but I updated its GOP to 0x3000B .
GTX 1070 OC with SLI compatible don't rise TDP , still 115W as non-OC . But freq is higher . GTX 1080 OC still is 190W TDP but freq is higher too .lsflp, sweepersc2, Falkentyne and 3 others like this. -
Thanks for your amazing insight. I've backed up the vBIOS from the P870TM GTX 1080, is there a way to check if it's the SLi/non-SLi version? If not, I'll have to flash both cards to the same SLi vBIOS, right?
-
You can see if SLI works and if it doesn't work you can flash to whatever version you need . -
Thanks again, it ends with 21 and it's the overclocked version. I'll see if the older card can handle it, if not I'll have to drop them both down to what the older card can handle. It's 101MHz (124MHz Boost) over the other card's stock speed, slightly above a desktop GTX 1080 reference clock (for anyone that cares).
Last question - and I really appreciate your time - if I flash the newer card's vBIOS to the older card, will it still work in the DM motherboard? Or is that just something your mod offers? -

The TM version BIOS wont boot as the primary card at least in the DM.

I guess really it doesn't matter, I almost certainly won't be putting that card back in the DM machine again but I'd like the option to if it isn't too much trouble. Still have another day before my cooler gets here and I can try it all out. -
According to my test TM's card working fine on DM2/DM3/KM without modification and if you want it works with DM you need hardware modification . I can' remember how to do but @52571abc knows how to make it .

Is that even necessary for the 1070?
-
I had a 1080 in it before with 282 watts. I built her headpipe for that
but yes, if I play 3 hours, he has only 65 degrees -

What's the noise like with a 3rd different size fan?

I think I have the same problem with you, I bought p870tm1-g, but when I put the video card (GTX 1080), the laptop does not give me an image, only the keyboard remains changing colors.
it can be fixed by upgrading the firmware of VBIOS? -

Where is the card from?
