This is a review of FlawlessComputers.com
To begin with, please remember that I am a Marine currently serving in Iraq. Keep this in mind when I talk about email return times and package delivery times (both were incredible, in my opinion).
Before searching for a store I spent several days digging information up on different computer systems. It turned out that that Sager 5760 was the best choice for me. I do a lot of audio work and a lot of graphics work. I am about to start up college for graphic design, so I need a good performer.
I first found out about Flawlesscomputers.com on Google on November 7th. Over the next few days I asked Brian a few simple questions about upgrade options. I could not place the order for my computer until November 15th (pay day!), so I surfed around trying to beat the price, trying to find a complaint against flawless…basically just trying to prove this company wasn’t a dream come true.
November 15th came. Brian informed me that my laptop could not be guaranteed to ship before December 15th. This kind of disappointed me, but he he explained they were updating stock and redoing the website. In the end I decided that his complete honesty was reason enough to buy from them. My friend ordered his MacBook Pro 45 days ago and the company hasn’t even given him a ship date…and they ignore his emails. Brian went out of his way to inform me of this shipping issue well before I placed my order.
So on November 17th I placed my order and expected to get my laptop right around Christmas time (what a great Christmas present!). A few days after my order Brain emailed me to inform me that he had taken the liberty to upgrade me from a 100gb 5400rpm drive to a 7200rpm hard drive. WOOHOO!
So I sat patiently here in the notebook forums reading about my future laptop. On Dec 1st I decided to send a quick email to Brain;
Brian,
I know it is not December 15th, but I was wondering what the status of my order is.
Within 30 minutes I received a reply saying that they had emailed me my tracking number 2 days prior to my other email address(I was just to lazy to check there).
Shipping took 14 days from the United States to Iraq, which is about average.
I did NOT opt for the dead pixel warranty, but when I ran a monitor program I came up with no dead pixels. I ran 3dMark06 which they installed on the computer for me and scored a 4624. They sent me a computer case with all the cds…even a rebuild cd which companies like alienware charge for. They sent me a laptop case as well. Everything was well packaged.
Now I did find one small problem which is being taken care of. Accidentally they shipped my computer without Bluetooth. Now, through a NORMAL retailer this might be a huge issue. Two weeks to ship it back, a few days for them to work on it, and then 2 weeks to get it back into my hands….ICK! But not with flawless! I emailed them and explained I was having an issue with the Bluetooth. I had feared it was not installed, but I didn’t feel like opening the case to check. About 10 minutes later Brian responded, he had looked through everything and decided that my system had not had Bluetooth installed. Originally he offered to give me a 20 dollar rebate, send me a Bluetooth usb thing so I had Bluetooth access while in Iraq, and to pay for the repair as soon as I got home from. This offer was more then reasonable, but I countered that offer. Why not just send me the Bluetooth module and I will install it. I am a computer tech so he is sending it straight to me so I can install it myself. So, I get a good excuse to rip open my laptop and install something (which I love to do) and I get to save another $20. I could see how some people might look at this as a bad thing, but it took less then 20 minutes to come to an agreement from a world away. They are letting me service my own laptop…and I will still have the Bluetooth installed before I even expected to have my laptop! These guys are amazing and every single computer purchase from me (which is about every 6 months) will be from these guys.
So, I give FlawlessComputers.com a 4.8 star rating. I could not be more pleased. I paid $2125.00 ($2105.00 after the Bluetooth mix up) for a fully loaded Sager/Clevo….most people pay $2500+ for the same exact setup.
If any of you are in the market for a new laptop….use FlawlessComputers.com and post about it!
(if you found this post helpful in your laptop purchase please pm me! thanks!)

good review for a reseller.
very informative to know -
Could you tell the specs what you got for that price?
-
Sure!
WSXGA
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0ghz
1GB (1X1gb) Cosair 667mhz ram
100GB 5400rpm HD (my free gift was an upgrade to a 7200rpm hd)
Intel Wireless with Bluetooth
Nvidia 512mb 7950GTX graphics
and then of course all of the other wonderful things that come with the Clevo/Sager case.
UPDATE ON THE BLUETOOTH: Brian just emailed me literally 15 seconds ago and said he was going to overnight me the bluetooth module. (he was paying shipping of course) I told him not to rush, I am in Iraq and it wont make the shipping any faster. It is the thought that counts and if I was in the states I would have my bluetooth installed well before I even expected my computer to have arrived....AMAZING customer service. -
I cant wait for my clevo(ordered from flawless) to arrive.
my clevo M570U specs:
WUXGA

The only hardware left to upgrade at this point in time is either the processor or T.V. tuner w/remote.

I'll just toss in my 2 cents on this as well...
After much comparison between the various resellers, I finally ordered a m570u from Flawless on the 4th. I was extremely happy that they were able to deliver the lowest price along with free upgrade (Brian bumped me up to a 100GB 7200 rpm drive as well) and their standard 3-year warranty (unlike others who charge a fair amount extra for that).
As others have said, Brian is always very responsive and helpful in email communication throughout the order process.
The only downside is that I don't yet have my machine, so I can't yet speak to the actual product, but service so far has been great, and I would happily suggest them to others (feel free to tell 'em I sent ya).
I should also mention that I also exchanged some emails with PowerNotebooks during my decision-making process, and they were extremely nice and helpful as well. In the end, price and the warranty ended up being the deciding factor for me in my decision.
I'll be sure to post more once I finally get my machine and put it through its paces. -
Ive just heard that it doesnt handle games as well as the lower res screen. im not sure how true this is, but i wsxga is more then enough for me.
-
jcq, you will be more then happy when you pull this beast out of the box....
-
uh, someone should just post the model #'s along with the contrast ratios and viewing angles and refresh rates instead of writing speculation
-
When we start getting into next-gen games (Crysis being the obvious one that jumps to mind), it may be another matter. They're pushing a ton of polys, more shader effects, and all in all more graphical goodness than current-gen stuff, so it's entirely possible that we may end up seeing ourselves GPU-bound with some of that at WUXGA res. However, I have not seen any actual data on this, so it's merely speculation. We'll always be bouncing between being GPU and CPU-limited as things get upgraded (obviously a bigger factor on desktops that actually get upgraded components), so it's always tough to tell without somebody giving good numbers comparing performance at each resolution.
It occurs to me that I haven't actually taken a detailed look at the specs on the WSXGA screen vs. the WUXGA, so I don't actually know how they compare in terms of the typical LCD factors (contrast, response time, etc). I don't believe there's much (if any) difference, but that's pure speculation and I'd love to see hard data.
On a related note, I myself was worried about getting WUXGA because of performance issues running at that high of res in next-gen stuff. I was reassured by friends who have said that running in non-native res doesn't actually degrade quality that noticeably, so even if we become GPU-bound, we can always take that route. -

It sort of went off-track into the manufacturer/reseller discussion, so I had forgotten that Gophn had posted all of that data about the screen. Is there a similar post about the WSXGA model?

Thanks for the informative post Winter Raven, looks like you made out pretty well. Congrats on the notebook.
-
yeah i was about to speculate that wuxga is a bit higher quality than wsxga (based on my prior shopping for a sager 3.5 years ago).
the wuxga has 500:1 contrast ratio while the wsxga has 400:1 contrast ratio
<3 Gophn, thanks for the link i forgot about that thread -
Hello everybody,
I am a TV Production Supervisor and Coordinator, i mostly deal with Video/Audio advertising and summaries for pre/post production.
My work often makes me move city-to-city, country-to-country so my keyword is P I P (Power-in-Portability).
All of you will say, YES...you need a laptop! Correct suggestion, otherwise i wouldnt be here.
YES, but which laptop? And here many of you could recommend me tens of brands, hundreds of resellers.
In fact, at first i had an idea of what could meet my needs. I was looking for a well known brand, HP, which could offer me (i thought) quality, with great price/performance and with the warranty which is implied in the very name of the company.
And here we go. Unfortunatly my Calvary has begun exactly there.
Eight months ago I bought the Top of category ZD8400, which seemed to be the best i could get.
As soon as I started to work seriously, i had to face a very annoying issue concerning the Audio/Video reproduction (my daily bread) due to a wrong locating (lack of construction) of the Hard Disk and the speaker's magnet. In this case lifting up the volume slowed down the laptop's performance, it began to jump just until i would plug in the headphone or mute down the speakers.
So bad that the repair service didnt get what the problem was and just replaced my computer with another one of the same model but older, scratched and with the same defect!!!
3 times back and forward wasnt enough for them to find a possible solution.
The last time i received back the laptop i noticed that they just changed the speakers (i guess they hardly even tried to understand what was going on) and destroyng the cover (i still wonder whose hands did violence to it).
I need to show what they did to make you all understand exactly how i felt:

Finally my advocate and I decided to officially Warn the HP Repair Service about the possibility of us asking for refunding.
In 2 months of calls, anger and venom they refunded me the entire sum.
You can imagine what influence it had on on my work.
In that period Hp came out with the new series Pavilion; the DV9000t looked extremely amazing and really powerful (on the paper).
So only because i own many HP Products such as Printers and Workstations and i really trusted that company i decided to go for the dv9000t full customized. Yes call me masochist because i really was.
As soon as i had in hands that notebook, looking over the glossy color and imprint finish i realized that the internal cover(the grey one) was uneven due to the evident assemblage defect. Moreover, all the 15 dv9000 i checked purposely in different stores had the same problem.
But it wasnt enough. Thanks to a sales manager of one store i had possibility to test 5 of the 6 notebooks they had.
And well..4 of them had the well known CPU WHINE/HIGH PITCHED NOISE and the last one "only" problems with keyboard.
Someone of you will say, its just bad luck. Well whatever you say i wont buy HP anymore.
Losing my energy to find the machine which could really meet my needs in terms of Power, Reliability, great assistance/services and price, i finally found what i actually like to call a Monster Machine(MM).
Clevo M570U.
I immediatly did fine research of that brand, even calling the headquarter in TAIWAN and speaking with the sales manager (her name is Kate and her empathy joined with a really sweet voice made me feel comfortable)
she promptly told me how this company works.
Clevo is a large Taiwanese computer company specialising in laptops. While the Clevo brand name is perhaps not widely known, their products are rebranded and sold by Original Equipment Manufacturers and it says exactly where i could buy their products, i discovered a reseller's name from which actually i ordered my M M.
That name could not be more perfect than FLAWLESSCOMPUTERS.COM
I cant hide that as soon as i called that company, after i read many reviews on them, i realized that Mr. Brian Smith is more than just a professional, self-confident and precise person. Apart from that, he is very willing and ready to give the best solution without particular interest in money (no matter he is a great businessman) but in the real needs of the customer.
With him i built my Flawless Laptop at the BEST DEAL i could get.
I couldnt expect anything better after the bad story i went through.
I wont spend unnecessary words on the CLEVO M570U; there is plenty of infos and reviews about it in the Internet.
But i promise that as soon as i will get the MM in my hands i will review it and i will post it around.
For now it is all what i can say. This is just the feedback i got walking through difficulties and meeting what for me means Perfection.
Thanks to you, Brian.

You Rock! -
I ordered an M540N from Flawless yesterday, and while I haven't seen the machine, I have no doubts that it will be fantastic. I decided to talk to Brian (who e-mailed me his direct line phone number when I signed up on their site...way to go for the customers), before ordering, because I had a few questions.
The first had to do with shipping. I needed to know when I should expect my computer to arrive, because after the 15th I'll be at a different address. I explained this to Brian and he said that he'd put a priority on mine so that I'd have it by the 12th. If I'd ordered from HP, like I planned to do when I started looking at laptops a few weeks ago, I'd never have gotten service like that.
I also asked about the warranty. The 3-year is no longer standard, but that is a very recent change, and they still claim it on their front page (they've been working on updating their site), so due to the false advertising he agreed to upgrade me to it for free. Once they get their page changed, I don't know if they'll continue to offer this, so don't count on it, but it made me very happy and showed me how willing they are to accommodate customers.
Like jcq, I'll be sure to post again once I've received my new machine. I love it already, and I doubt I'm setting myself up for disappointment. -
At last i would like to say....there is something better then to be perfection's holders?
No!
Enjoy your waiting time! -
Just an update to my Flawless purchase...
My Clevo M570U arrived on the 19th of december. After closer inspection I noticed a hairline crack in the case above the dvd drive. I think it was determined to be caused by shipping. In any case Brian had me send it in(free next day shipping there and back).
DHL screwed up my pick up schedule(probably due to the xmas rush), so I was not able to have it shipped out until the day after Xmas on the 26th. To my surprise, I received a brand new M570U on friday the 29th. I figured they would have just swaped out the top part of the case, but instead I got a replacement two days after I sent the original in!!!
That is incredible service. I highly recommend buying a laptop from Brian at Flawless computers. Brian responds to most emails within an hour of them being sent, and he offers the best prices and warranty deals. If you have been thinking about buying from flawless, then go for it!

here's another update for you guys.
flawlesscomputers.com is currently down. Just maintenance? we'll see.
What I know is that I paid them over 2000$ mid-january for a system that still hasn't arrived and it's been weeks since I last got a reply to my emails.
now somebody on here wrote that's because the guy from flawlesscomputers.com is currently in jail (for driving without his driver's licence. at least that's what he says!). I don't know if that's true. but it doesn't matter, a professional business will have ways to substitute employers that get sick or incarcerated and will definitely keep the customers informed.
Now I'm stuck here hoping I'll miraculously hear from flawlesscomputers.com again soon or else I will have to go through a lot of trouble to attempt to get back money from a guy that lives on the other side of the atlantic ocean. -
dude....we are all getting screwed...read the 20 pages titled "Flawless....anybody home?"
-
Yeah...I am pretty friggin' heated about this.
-
at least you have a laptop....mine is missing in action....
-
True. I am still pulling for Brian to come out on top and to fix anything that needs fixing.
-
-
Time to dispute that..
This is exactly why I never offered to build computers when I had a computer repair business. I only gave them free truthful system recommendations and suggested a few big names like Dell or another company that I felt was good and would not rip them off. It would be way too much hassle being a one man army. When hundreds of your built systems floating out there, being a one man support army is not going to work for you or your customer.
I wish you guys luck.
