What is this supposed to do?
On my it just makes my screen go black until I hit Fn or another key??
is that right?

Its supposed to control your SRS. At least on the 5793/6 it does.

It turns off your monitor, or at least that's what it does on my 5791.

turns your backlight off. press any key or touchpad to turn back on.
mainly used when you have an external monitor connected. -

thats fn+2, fn+f2 is the backlight.

Well, it doesn't completely turn your backlight off. If you're sitting outside or in a brightly lit room you can still see your screen a little bit. But it does GREATLY reduce its brightness. -
im only going by what it says in the manual.

It DOES turn off the backlight, it just doesn't turn the actual screen off, hence why you can still see the image if you are in a bright environment or you shine a flashlight at it.
