    Hardware

    NP9262
Dual Nvidia 9800GT M's in SLi
    1920 x 1200
    2.83 Ghz Quad
    Win7 64
    Driver: 195.62

Something I've noticed since running Win7 on my machine is that the frame rates stutter a few seconds. It's not TOO OBVIOUS but definitely present enough to annoy me. It shows up it in SD and HD videos as well as gaming. I've played with ALL of the settings and nothing seems to get rid of the this stutter.

Mind you, I have a dual boot with XP and this stuttering problem is not present. Interestingly enough, even with the stuttering, my games report higher FPS on Win7 than XP.

Anyone have any advice to fix this?

Can you tell us what kind of video formats you're watching? On my NP9262, I get some stuttering when I fullscreen flash video (particularly YouTube), but it goes away a second after it's done transitioning to fullscreen.

Happens whether it's full screen or not.

Thanks ettornio, I'll try that in a little bit! Could you explain what a DPC spike is though please? I'm really curious to know.

I'd like to know, too. Roymathieu knows far more on the subject. All I know is that when the graphics card(s) are changing their clock speeds, it causes video and/or audio to stutter. You can check it out for yourself by Googling "DPC Latency Tester".

I tried those drivers ettornio and unfortunately, the stuttering is actually worse. Not to mention, it changed the color settings. I'm going to go back to the 195.62 drivers for the time being and look into the spikes you're talking about. If anyone has anymore information, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Our 9262's just need Digital Vibrance blasted to 100%. That should do it. I don't know what to tell you about the stuttering, however.

So I checked the latency thing. That actually fixed the cracking/stuttering problem on my SOUND, BUT the issue still remains in the video. The DPC latency checker shows no spikes now, but again, videos still stutter. It's so strange that it only happens on Win7 but not XP. What's a good program that can control the clock speed of the CPU?

What programs are you using to watch the videos? I had a problem using the klite codec pack to play videos in windows 7...would get stutters, and weird black dots with that program. When I use windows media center though, video is perfect. Not sure what it is with windows 7, but never had those problems with windows vista. I am using the 5870m however.

Actually, it happens on streaming videos (youtube, vimeo, etc.) and on windows media player. Every type of video stutters. The fact these videos run silky smooth on XP rules out any hardware type issues. Windows 7 is just weird.... It would be nice if I could fix this.

Try to use VLC to play a movie and see if the video stutters. If it does then probably you have a graphic card drivers issue, if not then it's the video codecs.
