I purchased an OCZ Whitebook to hold me over until the M980NU’s get road tested and the new model issues get worked out. I’m enjoying the thing hugely, but it does display the need to be tweaked in a bit as is evidenced by a tendency to crash fallout3. I would be grateful for help from anyone on optimizing this laptop, as well as any suggestion on where to get a BR-drive.

Whoever comes up with the best info will get a free pizza (details below). I’m sure that the advice given won’t be a one off deal, and may require a few emails and such. All that effort has to have a value so a pizza is my offer.

    Spec’s:
    ATI 3870 x2 (Fallout 3 crashes often)
    QX9300
    4 gig’s of ram
2 meg webcam that’s very blurred when the subject is in motion.

Thanks in advance for the assistance. The winning poster will be sent a pizza from the pizza shop of his/her choice, or the value sent via paypal … your call.

Well i am gonna have to start with the obvious and say, are the graphics drivers up to date?, and is the game fully patched? Those are two of the best spots to start when having problems. oh and i'll trade you my x9100 for your qx9300 :D

Fixing Fallout 3 crashes - in detail
    Fallout 3 - TweakGuides .... love this site. :)

you can get any slim internal optical drives using SATA interface.

the typical SATA slim Blu-Ray combo drives (reads Blu-Ray & DVD, writes DVDs) are around $150-250:
    - LG Electronics CT10N .... best deal IMO ;)
    - Sony Optiarc BC-5500S
    - Sony Optiarc BC-5600S

Thanks for the help with Fallout3 Gophn. I've been digging around both of your suggestions to see what will work.

There's an ATI driver mod I've heard rumors of. I'm looking for guidance on that as well as a guide for general tweaks on this configuration. I really need to get this thing dialed in before I start the next project: overclocking the quad up to the 3gig's it is supposed to run well at.
