Hi guys,
First of all, I wanted to share my happiness of finally receiving my 2090![]()
Had to get off work early and drive to the airport during rush hour just to earn it today![]()
After a couple minutes unwrapping and ooh-aahh-ing at the beauty, time to install the OS (I ordered from xoticpc with no OS).
So I popped in my XP SP2 cd, and changed the boot order in the BIOS setup.
Later on.. I found out that the 120GB hard drive is contained by only 1 partition, and is currently in FAT32 file system (about to convert to NTFS).
Just asking for opinions here... should I leave it as 1 partition only? I have seen people who make a 2nd partition just to handle the system files (so, like 8MB partition)... Not even sure if this is the real reason why people make partitions.
The thing is, if I wanted to make another partition, then I have to first delete the one and only partition, which is currently the system partition. Is there a safe way to split this partition? and should I do it?

Personal preference. Some people don't like to mess with it and just use 1 partition. Others split half-half, 1/3 - 2/3, so they can clean install OS w/o losing data.

As Lithus said, it's a personal preference. I usually do not partition my drive if I do not have to simply because I think it is easier to have one big drive.

Well the advantage has already been said by Chaz, but if you have a lot of large files and plan to use your to the brim, then I suggest leave it as a whole single partition.

hm... alright, i think i'll leave it as is for now... coz I've never even had the urge to partition my computer for the last 10 years
thanks guys!
