    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else seems to be experiencing the gpu fan starting and stopping very briefly when you do the Fn + 1 key full power fan button.

The fan seems to speed up and slow down, (whiring up and down very quickly) as if its going 100% then drops to 10% and back to 100% in less then a second. Is this normal behavior for anyone else? Or am i just being too attentive to the fan. It'll repeat this constantly while the fan is on full power every few seconds. I'm not overclocking or anything stock drivers and software and all.

Is anyone experiencing problems like that or do I possibly have a lemon fan D:

hello get a look at your temps with winfo, if in game you don't exceed 85°c don't put your fan at 100% it's useless.

with my clevo p170 i'm experiencing the same thing it must be normal.

gpu fan go to 100% automatically at 94-95°c, if you have a 6970m, this gpu can work properly at 100°c

Oh i'm just testing out the functions to make sure the laptop is working properly. Its a 2000$ investment so everything must work properly :p

So your Clevo has that erratic throttling as well?

If that's the case it sounds like poor programming on their part as the only reason I can imagine it throttling like that going 100% then back to 10% is because their way of setting fan speed to full doesn't override the gpu's native fan controller. On desktop systems you can turn off the gpu's fan controller. It sounds like they are just sending a message for the fan to go 100% but they don't disable the onboard fan controller so it fights with each other causing the throttling problem that i'm noticing.

Can anyone else chime in if this happens to them & comments I'm curious.

This is normal behaviour for all clevo machines. I run my fans at max speed 100% of the time due to living in a hot as hell country anyway; so it doesn't matter to me. Remember, you're STILL UNDER WARRANTY to open it up and clean out your fans, and your resellers will actually happily give you a walkthrough on how to do this. So keep them clean, and keep yourself happy.

Your $2000 investment is well safe.

Yes, this is normal. We literally get a thread on this once a week!
