Nvidia have unlocked G-sync on some of their GPUs and this goes for the mobile cards too.
You must have a 10 or 20 series (EG 1060 or 2060) GPU to enable the feature.
This only applies to external displays using a displayport hooked into the GPU directly, this will not work on HDMI only monitors and HDMI outs on the machine. It does not work on your internal display.
If you have a Freesync monitor ensure Freesync is set to enabled in the monitor options if it's not on by default.
If you are lucky enough to have a validated display it should auto detect on plug in, the Nvidia drivers will enable G-sync or invite you to do it.
If not, once Freesync is enabled and you plug in a display you should see "Set up G-SYNC" in the Nvidia driver panel. You can enable G-sync for any one monitor in a multi display configuration. Select the display and tick "Enable settings for the selected display model".
Hit apply and G-sync will be enabled in non-validated mode. Depending on the display the experience will vary so test it out and see how it works![]()

I can confirm that this works on my 144hz Freesync panel at work (non-validated). I'll need to do more testing but haven't had any drop-out issues (likely because it goes to 144hz).
However, there are a few things I've noted:
- If you have an Internal G-Sync panel (non-muxed laptops or MUX chip in dGPU mode), you may not be able to enable Mobile G-Sync AND the Free-Sync panel. On MUX chip laptops you can just use DXHybrid mode to get around this. I had to use DXHybrid mode on my P650RP6-G.
- FreeSync does not seem to work over DisplayPort MST hubs or monitors with a built-in HUB. It needs to be directly connected. I've tested this particular scenario on a Dell U2917W.

Working great on my P650HS - Msi Optix G24C

Working on my PowerSpec 1710 (PA70HS-G) to a Samsung UE510 with modded range of 32-60.
Also note that there's a bug in the driver where it may lose the VBLANK timings, and you go to use G-Saync, and it's nothing resembling smooth. The solution is to shut game down, turn monitor off/on, or disconnect/reconnect, and let it get re-detected. Should be good again. Using CRU's restart64.exe works too. -

Another thing to add, the Nvidia G-Sync Pendulum demo works for the new FreeSync mode.
You can download it here:

I highly recommend using the "Show Test Pattern" mode as it is far more effective at showing any tears or glitches. I also recommend using the FPS sliders to manually test framerates, especially <40fps as that allows you to find out if you have any blanking issues at low refresh-rates. -

Cheers.
G-Sync (aka fressync) for non validated displays (external only)
