ah yes, of course, i was rather talking about on-the-fly undervolting :) (which i prefer, in case im reaching my hardware´s limits and would like to reset easily ;) )

60-65C is VERY conservative. anything below 90C for extended periods of time should be no problem whatsoever. just make sure to do regular maintenance such as dust cleaning and repasting :)

I understand that argument, but it's full of holes. How do they explain FreeSync or the fact that G-sync was implemented through a soft mod by several users without hardware? I don't doubt that it cost Nvidia *some* money, but in no way to justify the ridiculous costs associated with the bump in price. If AMD were competitive currently they would have just offered it for free as a selling feature.

Then why does the Samsung 4K panel in the P750DM-G I have can only run at 67Hz and by default only runs at max 60Hz? Where the P770ZM-G 1080p panel by default was set to 75Hz? That 75Hz "requirement" is just an artificial limitation imposed by Nvidia.

@HTWingNut Seems I was misinformed - 75Hz is not a requirement that Nvidia uses to approve a panel for Gsync compatability.

I was confused as well, as NVIDIA only ever advertises 75Hz, when we got to play with the 4K g-sync screens and they all turned out to be only 60Hz even in FHD mode.

Could you please run that AUO 4K screen in your P870DM-G dev unit through NVIDIAs refresh rate test and see how far it can be OCed in 4K and FHD mode respectively? :)

@Prema - sorry, no can do. I had to send it back to our office in Germany because of the website issues that had to take priority. No P870DM benchies either unfortunately for now, though what I did have time to do tallied up with all the other current benchmark figures so really there wasn't anything groundbreaking.

4k at 75hz is starting to get VERY bandwidth heavy and I am not sure there are display controllers are out there that would support it natively.

Problem is the 4K screens we tested don't allow for 75Hz in FHD mode either...

All the pixels still need to be updated by the controller regardless of the resolution of the desktop/game.

I think everyone was thinking this when G Sync started showing up. Were the screens just not overclocked to 75hz that you saw?

The officially licensed 4K screens default to 60Hz, while the FHD screens to 75Hz in g-sync mode.
Also trying to forcefully overclock the 4K didn't go too well, it could only take 67Hz.

That 12% increase in refresh rate is the equivalent in processing terms as taking a 60hz 1080p panel to 85-90hz.
