I started to play Alien Vs Predator for 30min and wanted to check my temp so i opened up HWmonitor and my max temp was 103C, I know that is really high. The funny thing is that the GPU fan wouldn't get any loudier or "spin faster".

The fan is running but it doesn't run fully once the GPU starts to get hotter, I remember on my Sager NP8662 the fans would run faster and louder when the temp got higher not sure if they removed this or just the fans are a lot better now. Has anyone had this problem?

I tried the clipping method and reapplied MX-3 thermal paste with the dot and push method

    Thanks,

have you tried the silent hot key at the top. looks like an M with a circle round it.
have you cleaned your fans out recently.
and finaly applying thermal paste is an intracate procedure and if its done wrong it will raise temps even more.

HWiNFO32 provides more detail regarding GPU temps and is recommended. Some older versions (I still use v351.757) included working GPU fan support showing percentage levels of use; unfortunately, the newest version (359.920 beta) has lost that capacity for the 8760. Still works on the older version.

Which fan reading has been lost, can you attach a screenshot?
I have recently identified an issue in the ATI GPU code on later models, so theoretically it could influence the fan internal reading too.

I need to go into detail a bit to explain why..
It seems that many notebooks control fans (CPU, GPU) using an Embedded Controller (EC) chip on mainboard, so the fan values reported by GPU internal sensors are invalid (30% in your case all the time). The problem is that EC monitoring is very specific and depends on particular vendor (and EC firmware). In many cases it is possible to find out how it works and report it, but it requires a lot of work on both sides (mine and ppl having the notebooks). That's what I did on this forum (with success) for Alienware notebooks and few HP models. Besides that I have support for some others like DELL, IBM, SONY VAIO, etc..
I can try this for this particular Compal model, but would need help. See this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-hwinfo32-monitoring-alienware-notebooks.html. Please also note, that success is not guaranteed, since it might not be possible to monitor the exact RPM speed on all models.

Alright i attached a Load file and an Idle file, Not sure if the Load worked the numbers didn't seem to change

Also, I was reading around any someone said download some Clevo vBIOS would work, anyone know how to do that?

Some numbers changed indeed. Please also attach the ACPI / DSDT dump using the RW-Tool and a HWiNFO32 Report + Debug File.
If it's possible, I'd need more dumps of the EC for Idle, Start Load, High Load, Return to Idle.

alright i attached the report and ACPI/DSDT, nt sure where to find the Debug file. Not sure if you need more EC dumps my fan always stays at 30% i can't hear it get any louder when i hit 100C and i tried GPU-Z

    Mumak,

The GPU fan speed indicator (%) worked very well in v351.757, but got lost in later iterations. It would be great to have that back, with actual fan RPMs being interesting but less useful without knowing the design RPM range for the fan.

    Thanks.

You can download the older version of HWinfo32 (v351.757) with the working fan indicator here to use until new versions restore the feature: UPShare.me

Thanks man that worked i was using Furmark and the fan speed went up to 100% once my temps hit 90C-95C, I just can't hear the fan get any louder, I guess i'm used to the older Sager NP8662 fan that was really loud once it kicked in. Although those temps are really high (i hit 100C when playing AvP) I think i might need to re-apply the thermal paste i may have used too much AS5.

When you launch the RW-Tool and are in the ACPI section, please select the DSDT tab and send me that dump.
I need more EC dumps regardless of the fan indicator.

Looking at your temps, it looks like your main problem is memory (VRAM), which means that pads, not paste, will be the solution. Inap (and some others) have that down to an art. PM him for the best source for replacement pads and the process for preparing and applying to the chips. He can probably direct you to a guide that will walk you thru the whole deal.
