For whatever reasons the moderators really do not seem to be liking me as they have now deleted three posts...what did I do?

Short at to the point on my fourth attempt to ask this, my notebook has been making more and more noise so I decided to monitor temps and found the GPU to be running on average > 100 degrees Celcius. Is this normal?

    Edit: I forgot to mention, I have a NP8150.

They didn't delete your posts, there is a bug on the forum.

And no 100C is way too hot. You should be closer to 83-85 max.

Zevo. I have a 8150 too, and during normal use I am around 45-50c, and even during load I am around 72-75c. Have you had this for a while? If so, take off the bottom cover and blow out the vents and insides with air to clean out any dust that has taken residence. Build up of dust is a killer for laptops. And make sure your not using it on a bed or anything with soft fabric, because they will cover vents and stop the cooling system.

Have you tried turning it off and then on again?

A bug in the forum...but but...I wanted to be dramatic...

In all seriousness I have had it since September of last year I believe, I will try removing the bottom cover and blowing it out but I can assure that is not the culprit.

I idle at 55 degrees Celcuis.

And I do not remember calling the IT Crowd... ;)

Clean in out from as dust as suggested by Abidderman, 99% of that time that will fix overheating issues.
Make sure you open up the bottom and blow the dust out of the computer or it will just clog up the vents again.

Lol, I was wondering if anybody would get that. ;)

Seriously though, try cleaning out the fans. It happens a LOT that people are getting high temps, then clean out the fans/vents and it's good again. :)

recommended to clean out every 3 months or so as dust builds up very quickly in lappys. ive seen reports of dust causing upto 15c rise in temps.
next thing would be the thermal paste might not have good contact so needs reaplying (only if dust cleanout doest drop the temps).

Does this void my warranty? That was the one thing that voids ASUS's warranty. I bought it through XoticPC.

With Clevos/Sagers unless you break something your warranty will not be void.
Youre free to meddle with the internals as you want ;).

clevos are user upgradable so as HeavenCry said as long as you dont break anything you should be fine.

if youve never changed thermal paste before do a search on here as there are some walk throughs. hopefully its just a build up of dust though. can of compressed air comes in handy as well for them hard to reach places.

You won't void your warranty by removing panels. Sager makes an excellent laptop and so long as you don't spill anything on it or physically damage anything you should be fine.

Don't be shy in opening up your laptop and blowing the dust out of it with compressed air.

concerning re-pasting jobs, you will want to make sure you have the battery and AC adapter removed. Use a lint free cloth and either rubbing alcohol or the Arctic Silver 2 part thermal paste remover to remove the old thermal paste.
Use a good quality thermal paste, some folks here may have their own recommendations but among them are IC Diamond or the Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste.

If your fans are making a weird noise could one of the bearings in them be going out and causing them to not run at its full potential? Just a thought. Do you always run your notebook at full fan speed? How long has it been since you cleaned it out? If your answer is never then I would agree with the above posters and clean it. You would not believe the junk that builds up. My old D901c used to purify my room for me it would collect it all in it's 4 fan's. :)

Just an update: this was the first time I had taken the bottom off and blown it out from the inside out, I was astonished. I have had several gaming notebooks, and I have never seen one hoover up so much dust before. I will definitely make sure and do this with more regularity, going from the inside out. Doing a quick check, the temps seem to have dropped about 20 degrees Celcius...I am quite embarrassed to admit but there it is.

Hey, I don't think there are many people on here it hasn't happened to. Mine's probably overdue as we speak. At least you were smart enough to recognize it and ask the question. :)
