Hi.. My GPU fan on my laptop which is using clevo p150em is running even though its not warm. What can I do, to make the laptop fan run when the laptop is hot, and only when its hot?

    Regards

    Complain to Clevo lol.

They have always had poor EC Fan profiles. They come on too soon and not enough speed steppings.

I actually like they want to keep things cooler vs. need be but wish we had an option/toggle to be aggressive or silent and that impact profiles.

Oh well, maybe by 2015 they will listen to us hah

Anyway FWIW if this just started happening yours temps are probably higher vs. the past and in wish case blowing dust out or repast may help.

What are your temps at? Get HWMonitor to see. If you've had the computer for a while it could have built up dust in the vents and fans. If the fans are running high but its not blowing out hot air it could have a exhaust issue. Try cleaning it out if you do see high temps with HWMonitor.

The computer is about 1 month old. Well about 40 degrees celcius when idling.

Should I get a bios update with a fan controle or?

The temperatures is about 40 degrees celcius when idling. The computer is about 1 month old, and there is no dust in the fan. Should I get a BIOS update with fan controle? if yes, can you recommend any?

Fan turns off at 38c.. Kinda lame if you ask me, soo close lol I think it turns back on when it hits 49 or 50.

No update will help as they have not changed fan profiles in last month.

You can always download HWiNFO64 and see if you can use its Fan control feature. It supports many different gaming laptops

No third-party software has worked on any of these style/model Clevo laptops for at least the last 3 years if not more :(

They can monitor but not control.

Modifying the fan table inside the vbios works for P150HM though.

there must be something wrong with it as mine is almost silent and only revs up when gaming or with certain software open.
just opened gpuz and core temps and the fan has revved up slightly.
while idle is it running on the HD4000 as it sounds like its running on your dedicated gpu so the fans will run more even if its only 40c
my 4 cores are running at 43c-48c and gpu at 47c and its silent.

what is your ambient room temperature

Fans want to cool down the gpu to something around 38 and that can take them a while when you turn off a game. To make them stop spinning earlyer , like 45 or so, leave MSI kombustor running all the time. You will see the fans spin much less as they will try to maintain temperature around 42-45.
