please, coment the game performance in yours laptops.
I purchase this GTA 4 game but still it hasn't arrived. and i am a little worried about the performance in my laptop![]()
I have read some people today in forums and they say very bad things about this game and the performance in theirs desktop.
if you have the game, please coment!
thanks (sorry my bad english)
-
Purchasing it today! I think it will run great on our systems, Jarinawer.
-
-
had it on order from steam and its ready for download from midnight tonight. it has been released everywhere else but as usual europe is the last to get it
with the config you have got there Jarinawer you will have no problem. -
i have not purchased it yet
-
How much is it off steam?
-
-
also I have read that this PC version game has very poor graphics quality, even worse than the ps3 or xbox360 version.
if it is true, this is very sad, but I hope that no!
-
we will soon see. hope its not another one for the rubbish bin.
ill get far cry 2 next and try that even though thats been slated. -
-
I have never heard of any game dumbing down graphics for PCs... -
I've read several people saying things like vehicle reflection have been removed from the pc version.
-
which would be completely gay. We'll find out though.
-
When I read than an E8500 and GTX280 can't maintain 30fps at 1280x1024 max settings, I worry for my M860's internet gangster status.
-
Well the game is very CPU intensive. More so than GPU appearantly. Perhaps its the 3.1GHz E8500 dragging it down. Who knows. A quad @ 2.4GHz will be faster than a dual @ 3.1GHz, in this game. Looks like we might have the CPU version of Crysis here...
-
One question though, I don't know if any of you know that a lot of X360 major title single player games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Oblivion, etc. have add-ons that can be downloaded from XBL, are these same add-ons available for the PC crowd? If so then I'm just going to stop buying single player only games for the consoles because I much rather play while I'm on vacation and away from multiplayer. I ask this because I know Fallout 3 will have some expansions down the road, and I'm on the edge about buying it for one of the consoles because every time I'm on a console my friends want to play some multiplayer. So I much rather play it on the PC in my "free" time when I can't be bothered by pesky invites. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
im really hoping my Q6600, 3GB ram and 8800m GTX will be able to get decent settings and framerates - i think im going to wait to see what other people with similar specs get with the game before spending my money
-
-
at work now so i will let you all know how it is tonight.
-
SLI not supported, major graphical corruption in Vista and very poor performance.
So you know what to expect... -
great, so i wont look forward to it.
-
I have it on my desktop and it runs shockingly and my system is more powerful than my M860TU which should arrive tomorrow.
-
DJ, this info from Rockstar should help you tweak your settings.
-
I did manage to get 28 fps average at 1680x1050 with Very High shaders, though textures at Medium which I can´t change by the way at all. This on a single 8800m GTX.
I have more confidence in my desktop 8800GTX, will install it on my desktop today instead where I only have 1440x900 max res and 768MB of VRAM. -
nice one Kevin, thanks for that info buddy.
-
-
I usaly don't play games at max resolution. I won't use 1920x1200 for sure.
So I wonder that at 28 fps with your config, dropping the resolution and put decent setting i will be able to play it with good graphics and 30+ fps right ? -
why is this game so cpu intensive?
-
Overclocked my CPU to 3.0 Ghz but still have to put the settings to low & low and also lowered the distance etc.
Any driver update? -
-
Sorry guys, but any one has an idea if there is a small chance that this game will run on a MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz and GT9600M (256MB). The 256MB will force minimum settings, but beside that, it is going to be fun to play at all?
I am a bit frightened by all these postings! -
It will very likely play, but with the setting turned down. Its gunna struggle. but it'll do it.
-
dont know if downloading from steam was a good idea now as its been going for an hour and its on 9% at 474.3kb/s
-
Ha ya a 13GB download off a download service?
No thank you. Thats about a 15-20hr download if those speeds keep up.
Just noticing something here, the PC version download and DVD is 13.8GB. Expanded from an install, and were likely looking at 15GB, which is substantially larger than the 360 version. I'm not sure how big it is on the PS3, but either way, there is a lot more data on those disks than the 360 version. Likely meanin higher res textures and such. -
Installing now. I'll give a REAL report on how it performs.
Game runs in 64-bit mode. Nothing makes me happier than a 64-bit game! -
-
I'll try to take some screens, but I can't compare them directly to the PS3 version.
All sources claim it looks far better on a standard PC than it does the PS3.
30 minutes installing, almost done. sheesh! -
but I have read a lot of bad things about this PC version -
3 hours later and im still only on 49%
this is taking the p**s
still downloading at 466kb/s and im running 4-5mb broadband speeds, -
-
I hate download versions. Can't stand them at all. Too many restrictions and I hate waiting to download. I've got some serious texture problems, but the game still runs. With Textures maxed and Rendered setttings set to highest at 1680x1050, I'm getting 38fps in the benchmark.
-
oh! it's better than I expected!.
Please, post your settings and if you can, some pics.
about the many issues, i hope that rockstar fix them with a BIG patch
if more people here have the game, please post. -
Looks like that 1GB from our 9800M GTX cards is finally coming into use. Its using 960MB of the 1GB. Impressive.
-
Finally got it working. Everything set to High, auto configure, @ 1680x1060, bench speed was 20fps... CPU is having some issues, cuz the frame rate during normal play is great, 30-45fps, but has these weird jitters every ten seconds or so, where it slows down to about 4-5fps.
I reinstalled the OS, and installed 180.70 drivers, but had the same issue. I then reflashed the 0608 vBIOS instead of running 0617, and installed the original drivers, and now it works. Old drivers and an old vBIOS are not my choice to game with. In 3DMark 06, its a difference of 2000 points alone.
EDIT:
Found a way to get the 180.43 WHQL drivers to work. Much better frame rate, now at 36fps average.
Graphics Settings
Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)
Texture Quality: High
Render Quality: High
View Distance: 32
Detail Distance: 70
Original drivers 169.somethin
Statistics
Average FPS: 20.68
Duration: 38.00 sec
CPU Usage: 85%
System memory usage: 78%
Video memory usage: 92%
180.43 Drivers:
Average FPS: 36.78
Duration: 37.03 sec
CPU Usage: 95%
System memory usage: 77%
Video memory usage: 91%
Still havin that weird CPU issue, but its a lot better now. Defragging helped a ton, the game is contantly accessing the hdd. Going to try 180.70 now.
EDIT:
180.70 is the culprit. Back to 180.43. Also now found a way for the 0617 vBIOS to function
EDIT:
Device ID 0617 w/180.48 drivers:
Average FPS: 41.62
Duration: 37.05 sec
CPU Usage: 94%
System memory usage: 81%
Video memory usage: 93%
Notice I'm using 81% of my 4GB of system RAM. Not even Crysis used near that much. This game is an extreme resource hog. -
Rockstar will patch it within the next few days/week. They've already acknowledged the problems. There will likely also be ATI and NVidia hotfixes.
I haven't installed it on my M860TU yet but I had shocking performance on my more powerful desktop. -
^ Shocking as in how?
-
Firstly it won't let me do high textures so you have to use a console command for that.
When using their recommended settings of roughly medium it still lags, especially in fast car movements.
The game also looks terrible, much different to the console counterpart.
There is no anti-aliasing and the shadows are terrible.
It crashes very often, during general gameplay, menus and cutscenes. It has also artifacted several times despite me doing some supposed fixes.
The crashing is apparently an ATI related problem so maybe it will work on my new M860TU with a NVidia graphics card.
Even on the lowest possible settings it's not completely smooth. -
still bloody downloading arghh!!!
at least ill have it by christmas80% now.
first time and last im buying from steam.
so theres not much hope for us with the 9800GT card.
i feel a complaint coming on -
I'd wait until after there is a new driver or hotfix and a patch from Rockstar. It seems that this game is very CPU intensive. The graphics themselves are of 2005 standard but ther eare simply so many things going on on the screen that it's got a lot to process.
-
finally downloaded.
graphics are better than i expected after all the talk about them.
bit of a pain though having to register to the social club and windows live so as to save gameplay and also use multiplayer but got there in the end.
now time to play.
