I sent a reply for confirmation, because $480 would make it just ten dollars cheaper than what we've been told was quoted for the GTX 280M. That just seems off. I might as well buy a 280M to test out then.

If true, sick. The 9800M GT will just have to be more than enough to tide me over for at least another year or two, then I'll buy a whole new notebook.

To quote Kramer from Seinfeld, "I'm out!"

    What about xoticPC?

And I'll agree that's way too much for a relatively small upgrade from a 9800 GT.

    That's somewhat discouraging.

It would be cheaper for me to sell my M860TU, then buy the M860ETU that comes with the new GPU, than for me to buy the card separately.

You could buy a GTX 280M and flash it undervolted and underclocked to fit the M860TU's cooling system if the price difference from the GTX 260M is that small.

I'm not clear here. If you have 9800m GT then you can't put the 280m because of the heat issue? That's on the M860TU?
Is it an issue on the M570TU?
    Excuse my noobiness.

Kevin, what are you even worrying about that for? The systems configurations we have right now are great for at least 2 years.

I thought it would be lower, but hey, it's better than $750 :D

You'd also get the quad-core supporting motherboard. But a 9800M GT should go for at least $300 or so.

Yeah....try lowering that price at least $100 and maybe ill be interested. That sounds re-f*cking-tarded. I also wanna see real world performance of the 9800 gt vs. 260, with overclocking, temps, etc. with come non-stock drivers.

Yeah, I know, but I don't mind buying a little extra longevity, if financially feasible.

I guess I'm dumb, because selling my existing GPU never even crossed my mind. If I do go for the upgrade, I'll probably try to have a buyer lined up ahead of time.

I'm going to wait maybe five or six months anyway, to see how mobile GPU tech advances in the mean time, in case another compatible contender is released for our chassis.
