Still on the fence about what video card to get.. I'm leaning towards the 8170-s1 now with the 470.. (this silly forum makes me re-think what laptop I'm going to get on a daily basis :) )

Do any current owners of the 8130,8150,8170 regret getting the 460m?

    Thanks!

Honestly, as I'm in the wait queue( didn't know barebones orders came after the Sager full assembly orders! )

Having to wait until next week, I was looking over the configs.

The more I hope to upgrade to a 470m or a 485m, I realize how little I'm going to be using the GPU to its potential.

I'm not the type of person enthusiastically into benchmarking, or the one to know about upcoming super-intense games.

I know how you feel, as I constantly feel the urge that getting a better GPU will save money, but it just strikes me how I feel like the GPU is making me play games! ( Trust me, this feeling exists! )

I didn't get the 485m just to start playing games to use its full potential, and nor do I have the time to do such things. It all comes down to willpower: is what you are doing taxing the GPU so much as to needing the best of best? If it's not that... I feel that the upgrade is not worth it.

Laptops should serve us.. not the other way around.. :D

I don't game or do any 3d work at all.
    I have about 6 laptops with 3ghz c2d, quad cores, fx 3700m/gtx 280m, ati 4850 & 5850.

...sometimes they corner me... and force me to do horrible things...

sometimes I player game such as Mofia2 or Angry birds .

my 470m is very low temperature and a balanced performance .

The price is reasonable , Currently I'm satisfied .

but over the next few months I'll replace the 470 to 485 or above type .

I hear from an electronic engineer from CLEVO , the next gen of NVIDIA card is still 40nm , but the architecture is change .

architecture change will change when 28nm comes in q4 11/q1 12 with 40nm this architecture will remain as it is

for the gtx 5xx series it can be rebrand or

    gtx 560m = 240 core 192bit gddr5
gtx 560m = rebrand of gtx 470m slightly oced (this is more likely as this chip is already being produced plus gtx 470m price went down will drop further in 3 to 4 months when 6970m releases)

gtx 570m = dunno whether they will release it or not but if they do most likely a rebranded oced gtx 470m or
    gtx 570m = 336 cores / 192 bit gddr5/256 bit gddr5 (highly unlikely)

    gtx 580m = oced gtx 485m as its a full gf104/gf114 core

gtx 580m cant be higher than that because no gf110 on mobile gpu as its unstable besides a 448 core on gf11o will be beaten by a full gf114 384 cores
