    [2000-2499] Slightly Low Performance
Capable of running the game, but may experience some slowdown. Adjust settings to improve performance.

    [3000-4499] Fairly High Performance
Capable of running the game on default settings. Consider switching to a higher resolution

    edit:
    Overclocking

I spent the $6.95 for 3DMark Vantage so I could run it more than once.

    My low
    650/1500/1300
    [IMG]

    My high
    687/1700/1375
    [IMG]

My high plus I adjusted the CPU’s TDP (note the jump in CPU score)
    687/1700/1375 TDP:80

That 25% above stock; I'm done.

That's pretty amazing, I thought it would be equal to slightly slower to the 480 stock, can't wait to see how much OC headroom it has.

Surprisingly the single 480 sold out of stock in early October (back in stock now)....

EDIT; not a patience issue now that I think of it, more of a fermi issue.

<.< well I would certainly take advantage of sagers 30 day return policy if I was one of those buyers, this gpu should run a bit cooler and end up out parsing the 480m once overclocks are involved.

Yeah download the 260.99 from nvidia's site. They are pretty good. Be sure to perform a clean install which will remove all traces of your old drivers. Man I hope to have one of these in my M15x...

Well on the nvidia site, there is no listing for the 470m however I'm sure it is supported. Test it out, you could always go to laptopvideo2go.com and get the drivers from their with a modded inf which adds support to almost all video cards.

There is your answer. GF100 is crap, especially if you downclock it. But it's great news that the GTX 470M turns out to be this good... it's still too expensive though...

470M is very close to 480M in performance. And heat and power consumption are better. With a cheaper (although only slightly) price, 470M is better.

the 470m is close but also has less heat and power consumption which makes it a better overclocker. What we are seeing is a similar 5850 vs 5870 situation from the Alienware thread where the 5850 has been overclocked way past average 5870's.

It is exactly as a Geforce GTS 450 with 1gb as powerful.
    A geforce 450 scores 8518 gpu and aprox 10050 10075 P Score.

Compared to this, the best single GPU, the Geforce 580 score 24977 Gpu and 24500 P score.

So basically we have a GTS 450 inside a laptop.
And thats the best a laptop can do in single GPU mode.

It is still plenty the bad part is that a GTS 450 is a 130 USD sollution.

How much is the 470m again ?

    My thoughts exactly....

Actually thats wrong the 460m is in fact identical to the desktop 450 apart from clocks and bandwidth where the 460m pulls forward with 192 vs the 128 bit on the 450. The 450 has 192 pipelines, 470m has 288, thats 96 more (which is in fact the same amount as a 8800m gtx or 9800m gt which translates to a 470m=460m+9800m) both are GDDR5 but the 450 runs on 128 bit and the 470m is 192 bit so more band width and because bandwidth is logarithmic, the gain is exponential. The price I do agree is still extortion but 130 USD is perhaps too hopeful. I mean in terms of specs, the 470m is like a fermi version of the desktop 285 when it comes to specs for number crunching.

Performance wise it is as if you have stuffed a gts 450 inside a laptop.

I’ll take this one only because I’m currently playing FFXIV.
You will need to update your driver, in version 260.99:
Was this benchmark on low (720) or high (1080)? Also, I know there are problem with SLI, not sure if they fixed that in 260.99+

Very high does not work on DX9 thats why you got such a high score ;)... It would have defaulted to High on DX9 even though it was set to Very High..

Either way those other scores look great and Congrats :D..

I wonder if M17X will handle those with stock cooling?

IMHO, this is a wrong thread/forum for such statements, no offense.

    @Tech17,
    Great Job and amazing scores!
Could you please run Crysis @stock clocks + DX10+ Very High (everything max)?

Not sure why people bother comparing Desktop parts to Laptop parts lol..

Desktops will always have the Edge till they stop making desktops and everyone knows this ..

If we could shove desktop cards into our laptops life would be grand but since we cant theres no point in even comparing period...

Only a few frames lower than no AA, but a big percentage drop (18%)

You really want to install 260.99+ before you run the benchmnark again. I gained over 350 in the FFXIV benchmark by simply upgrading the driver.
This game is a beast to run, but for the wrong reasons; they still use DX9 ><

I “just” started a rebuild of Windows (24% extracting) or I would have run this benchmark. I always benchmark/OC the daylights out of a new notebook (honestly trying to break it, but haven’t burned a chip yet), and then rebuild and never OC again (well, sometimes OC later : )

Anyway, I agree with Aikimox here, I always hated what futuremark did with Vantage Mark, starting with the “one time only” free run, but just viewing the GPU score is all you need.
If the comment was based on my “25% OC above stock”, the GPU score was actually 27% above stock :) but I based it on the total score.

Regardless, one thing buying a new laptop every year has taught me; don’t stick with old technology for your benchmark baseline. You have to use pre nVidia 8000 series GPU’s to completely rule out PhysX in your 3DMark Vantage benchmarks (I hear the ATI argument)
For example, the nVidia Go 7950 GTX SLI scored an average of 7000 on a 3Dmark06, I got better than that on my Alienware m11x :) the pre PhysX high end GPU’s really don’t compare anymore; modified netbooks beat them now.

    “GTX 470M” Google it

So I’ve been desperately looking for benchmarks on the GTX 470M ever since the release announcement. I can say with relative certainly, there are no benchmarks available online; I checked daily…

Now, NBR is on the google search for GTX 470M benchmarks!
    If you Google:
    GTX 470M benchmark
We’re # 6 on the list, only beaten by google omitting the 470”M” and displaying results for the desktop GTX 470, and notebookcheck.net’s result /w no benchmarks…

    Change you search to:
    “GTX 470M” Benchmark
    And we’re #1!

    Cool
