    Hi,

Im trying to find the latest CUDA enabled driver for my new D900f with a GTX285M.. All of the beta drivers are for the 200m series GPUs wont let me install and says that I have incompatible hardware for the driver..

    Hello,

You need to install the latest video dirver for your video card and then the toolkit. The cuda driver is in fact the video driver for the desktop. YOu can download the video driver for the mobile card as well from nvisia website.

GTX 285M should be supported on the next driver release at nvidia.com for notebooks..

meanwhile you can use the driver shipped with the system, as this is cuda enabled already

Yes. You only need the Cuda Toolkit.

You need to have the usual driver for the video card, the one one woulod install for gaming. Than you install Cuda Toolkit. At the end install the examples and try the device query.

197.16 runs CUDA apps no problem from my experience - have you tried those or are they the ones that you can't install?

It is probably not recognising the GTX 285M's hardware id.

LaptopNut, you have no issue installing 197.16?

I thought the problem was with CUDA toolkit. If you have problem with installinng driver that's another story.

I'm not the author of this thread. I'm just wondering if other 285's owners have the same issue as me since the 285 is in the list of compatible cards for that new driver. I'm using the last Forceware of Dox instead so no biggie but I'm just being curious.

Although my GPU is supported, the hardware id for it was not included in the inf so only a modified install would work. However, Nvidia are aware of these issues so hopefully in the future no one will have issues.

He said when he tried to install he gets ''incompatible hardware for the driver'' which would suggest a problem with his hardware id and the inf files used in the install of the Driver.

I see. No point to ask about CUDA. CUDA toolkit can only be install after the driver was install.
