Is what this forum saying about this laptop true?? about the indefinite delay of the shells? I've seen from this UK forum them saying so after having 50% of the laptops fail with a 675 SLI Clevo's taken it "back to the draeing board" for a redesign. here's the link to the pcspecialist thread if anyone wants to read up.

I sincerely hope this isn't the case for this laptop as I've waited over a year for a DTR and it seems to be for even longer now.

I don't understand. This chassis was out and ready LAST YEAR. How come they never tested it with GTX580m which is exactly the same card?

    Holy ....

I am still hoping for P370...but not a single picture is out for it and it seems like just another phantom...

I am disappointed in how the laptop hardware is being released this year. Fist the waiting for ivy bridge (which is nowhere near my expectations of stock 4.0ghz turbo boost).
Then nvidia's sense of humor called 'kepler' and the obsolete rebranding that is supposed to 'wow' me into buying old tech (just as if saying 'go, man! Put that gtx580 in there, they will never know! Name it gtx675 and sell that @@@@). SERIOUSLY? If only we were that stupid.

Then comes AMD's answer to this: 'Guys, dont release the 7970m until nvidia releases its low-tier kepler! We need to hype about how awesome we are, crushing low-level cards and last year's gtx580m in the form of the gtx675m! And then wait some more after gtx680 is released, so we can hype our 7990m before releasing it for it to crush gtx680. By that time, we should have sold so many 7970m's, all to people who will be tired to wait for the 7990m to come out. AND THAT IS GONNA BE AWESOME!'

Jesus. Save the customer from marketing...

I'm really wanting a sager P180HM right now at least that one was released and it had a lot going for it. if I had to choose between the P180HM and this P270WM I'd go P180HM without a shadow of a doubt. Too bad it's not available anywhere though :(

This whole wait thing is killing me, honestly. I'm kind of forced to go P170EM but that single GTX card isn't really what I want.

I know how you feel. The P270(something) was supposed to be the "new P180HM" but its unknown whether it will come out, let alone "when".

Right now, there is a stagnation of hardware and dreams (yours and mine). Im just talking about notebook dreams, not other stuff. This year is very successful so far, but the notebook hardware is not.

    @ spectroplasm
There is a P180HM here on the marketplace right now if you want one of those. It looks like a really nice config too ;).

just know now the only ver.01 bios will make 150w xeon e5 2687w overheat+bluescreen :(
clevo have been working on this problem for a month, maybe they are optimizing bios/ec for "officially" xeon support?

    Octo-Core Xeons in a Notebook? HELL YES!!! :D  :( :D

    Im up for:
    Option A: Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2690 (20M Cache, 2.90 GHz, 8.00 GT/s Intel® QPI) 3.8Ghz turbo.
    Option B: Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2687W (20M Cache, 3.10 GHz, 8.00 GT/s Intel® QPI) 3.8Ghz turbo.

Option B is 150W TDP, by the way. I have no idea if this will bottleneck its Turbo Boost, if the coolers cant cool it down enough. No idea if there is enough power reserve the supply can provide.
Option A is 135W TDP....both have different T-Junction temps, though....

Bring it on...if this becomes available, Im gonna do it for the lulz and get one.

we still have to wait though, I think I'll go P170EM maxed out. I justhope it wont be too much of a hit without SLI. That 680m better be beefy if not it's FAIL for nvidia

it's ok I guess, I've spent the rest of the day getting over the feeling of not getting one. I'll go P170EM for sure now, and save up for upgrades.

It's got to be those shells being to small or that mobo just not being able to handle it, I remember P180HM's failing on dual 580s because of the power draw being too high. but it's really saddening to see they've had over a year to sort this thing out and it's still back to the drawing board. :(

new 18"? no I'm talking of the old one, but the new 17" DTR is having problems so Clevo is "fixing" it up so to speak. More wait for everyone. I just ordered a P170EM!! :) can't wait for that one

There aren't any plans for a new 18" laptop at the moment. Only the 17" models :)

I haven't seen anywhere about the p370 which will have a mobile CPU with dual GFX capability yet. Time will tell if that will be available along with the P270WM or not
