So after a month or so of exhausting research I purchased a rigged our Sager NP8258-S (Clevo P157SM-A) from Xotic PC (who are great to do business with). I am quickly approaching the end of my 30 Dead Pixel Warranty period and need some advice:

The system is a beast and has done great in the few weeks I've had it. Whatever I've thrown at it has been handled quickly and smoothly in no BS 'Murica! fashion. However, on three occasions this one little pixel near the bottom of the screen doesn't seem to want to play ball. I only notice it when I have a solid color background and it appears to be a green pixel that sometimes blinks but if I were to physically touch the display it disappears immediately. Again, this has only happened a couple of times but due to the amount of $$$ invested in this bad a__ hog I don't want to take any chances (especially if the wife found out how much I paid for it!).

Question: is this just a quirk of a brand new computer that can go away or a potentially serious problem? Should I RMA my system to avoid headaches down the road?

Btw - I am active duty Army so if I don't respond to an inquiry immediately I apologize in advance.

    Thanks fella's.

It's a faulty pixel and electronics do not heal themselves.

    This.

While some bad pixels can be 'recovered' with rubbing them gently or a gentle tap with your finger, it's not the best solution nor is it a guarenteed 'fix'.

It's what one does when there's no alternative short of buying a new screen.

You have a 30 day return policy, and if you can get a new monitor for it, I'd say do it.

It's a great laptop, and even if a single pixel is a mild annoyance, you paid top dollar for it, so you should have your money worth.

it's covered under warranty, so use it.

As Ashen-Shugar said, mild pressure/massaging will sometimes alleviate "stuck" pixels (but not dead pixels), although since you paid for the 30 day pixel guarantee, you may as well use it. If it resurfaces in the future and you can't reapply the same fix for it, you're stuck (pun intended) with it.

We'd be happy to set up the repair, but do so before the 30 days is up, after that it will go to the standard 5 dead pixels requirement. To do so open a RMA ticket under our "Contact" section.

I contacted Xotic support about my Sager I purchased from them not too long ago

I received the laptop with a dead/stuck pixel on arrival (meaning it never hasn't had one). They told me you don't cover dead/stuck pixels and I'm pretty much stuck with it.

    Is this the real policy?

All notebook manufacturers will have a minimum amount required before they will cover it under warranty. Sager's policy is one of the best which require 5 total or 1 in the middle. To determine the middle you would make a tic-tac-toe board on the computer screen and if its in the middle one it would be covered. Otherwise you would have needed to get the 0 dead pixel guarantee to have a single one covered.

Dvanwag's computer did include the 0 dead pixel guarantee.
