Makes more sense. Try running the actual benchmark and post your max and min. I'm getting 17 minimum, 45 maximum.

Also, just ran 3dmark06, just to see if there were issues with my system performance, and I'm scoring 10197, which is above average (overclocked gpu).

    * Max. Framerate: 45,07 (Frame:229, 6,12s)
    * Min. Framerate: 20,62 (Frame:630, 19,41s)

Ran it again, 1680x1050, ultra settings.

    # Average Framerate: 25.52
    # Max. Framerate: 38.84 (Frame:10, 0.28s)
    # Min. Framerate: 14.40 (Frame:729, 28.26s)

What driver did you run your 3dmark test with?

The 3dmark test was run with 180.42, with the GPU at 600/930/1500

Well that's it, I can't figure out why my GPU seems to hate the 180 driver series. My normal score is around 10025 @ 605/1510/930, but with any 180.xx, I drop 350-400 points and lose frames in my real world performance. If I reinstall a 177-179 driver, all is back to normal.

    hmm...

Keep in mind that when changing driver series (17x to 18x), it's best to run driver cleaner pro (Google and download that), since the leftover files sometimes conflict with new drivers.

    Try doing this:

Uninstall nvidia drivers from your control panel
    Download driver cleaner
    restart in safe mode
    run driver cleaner
install new drivers in safe mode

Doing that is basically equivalent to installing drivers on a fresh reformat.

Just tried 180.42. Those were wicked sick (in classic dota way). Got an increase in FC2 og Warhead with 3-5 fps. Benchmarking is the same though with 10200.

EDIT: og=and. So easy to write norwegian instead =)

EDIT2: Tested the benchmark on Crysis. All high no mods, 27 fps average. Thats the same i got with the crazy overclock 640/1600/950. Now im using 610/1525/945.

Got my Nexus just during the week there. Im over the moon.
Was playing Far Cry 2 last night and see excellent FPS. I get 25-40 with i think all max settings playing on 1680 x 1050. Occasionally the FPs will dip or stutter but that's understandable for such high settings.

I've taken a few screenshots with FRAPS so i'll upload them soon. Does anyone know how to access the level editor on Far Cry 2? I havn't a notion how to get to it.

No luck on that end. I usually follow the same process, but with Driver Sweeper, so I tried using Driver Cleaner Pro instead. 179.13 is still giving me great performance with a score of ~10020, but the 180 series still drops down into the 9600s. I'm not one of those 3dmark e-peen fanatics, but a drop off of 400 points just isn't natural, especially when it appears to be an isolated case. 180.42 gives me superior IQ, but I can't sacrifice performance for it.

Hopefully I can figure something out before Fallout 3 hits next week.

fyi, 180.43 is out, and it's marked as a Far Cry 2 optimized driver.

So I did windows update last night.. and for whatever reason, it helped out a lot. I was backlogged with updates (32 of them pending) so maybe there was some sort of compatibility or performance tweak in there.

Getting 25-40 as I should now, maxed out at 1680x1050.

edit: interesting tidbit of info: Lowering the resolution to 1440x900 only boosts my fps by about 1.5, and lowering shadows has the biggest impact of any setting, with the difference between ultra high and very high being 7 fps.

Fallout 3 running very well at 60 fps on my 8660 on the High settings. It runs ok on the Ultra settings as long as it's an indoor locale, the fps drop to below 20 outdoors.

This is going to totally sound like a noob question but does everyone here who's talking about what FPS they get in games use FRAPS or an in-game counter? If so, I have Crysis, COD4, and STALKER: CS and was wondering if I am getting average frame rates or not (please post the commands or hotkeys on bringing up the console or whatever). Thanks in advance

    Yup, that's the one.

I improved the FPS quite a bit on the Ultra settings by going into the advanced settings and turning down the view distance LOD options. Frame rate still drops to around 20 in the great outdoors but still playable IMHO.

I went to the Bestbuy in Rockville, Maryland at 10 pm to stand in line until they started selling the game at midnight on Monday. The game was developed right down the street so a lot of the design team was on hand to talk to fans about the game and the 4 lead guys were autographing the game disc, box sleeve or game guide. I asked them what they were going to do now and the Exec Producer Todd Howard said very loudly "We're going to get drunk!" :D

Sweet. Sounds like a really nice experience.

Question: Is there that big of a difference between High and Ultra?

Also, you should overclock your 9800! The Big Kahuna demands it.

Just thought i'd put it in here that with stock drivers i run FarCry 2 at all high with max res i also have Real Tree at max, Fire at max, Physics at max and i also have the texture detail set to ultra high. With this i get 40 FPS solid. Do you's think it would perform even better if i updated my drivers? I've tried it with AA and the FPS just drop completely.I should really do some benchmarks for the sake of it.

Guys, guys, guys (and fellow girls)!!!!

You've got to get yourselves on the Steam community and download "Left 4 Dead". This si the zombie game you've all been waiting for! I love it. It scares the hell out of me! We should get ourselves in a server room and play multiplayer. I'd like that. :)

PM me if you have this game on your PC.

Hey Cat, been playing lots of Left4Dead recently. Great game: looks stunning and keeps everyone on the edge of their seats.

Also, those FPS people are getting on FarCry 2.... I can't seem to get anywhere near 25-40 FPS on Max Resolution (168x1050) and Max Settings. I have Dox's 180.70 modded drivers, where am I going wrong?

I don't think Left 4 Dead was ever shareware..... you may be thinking of the free game called Zombie Panic: Source that is also done by the company called Valve? That's also good, but it's a bit buggy looking... and you get tired of hearing really, really young kids on there talking into their voice mics just to hear the sound of their own voice... and listening to them hum randomly or call people "buttface", or shout "I got a shotgun! I got a shotgun!" isn't really that appealing!

Nice! We'll have to meet up online when I get back from my short, 30th Birthday day trip to Rome tomorrow. Turned 30 today. :( I don't look it one bit, but the day just feels so weird and ominous. Meh.

No, for a limited time it was shareware over steam and I played it. And then after like 6 days, I was told I had to buy it.

So how much is it now?

P.S. I maxed out that copy on my P9500/9800m GT.

Does anyone play FSX? If I max out DX9 I get down to even 7FPS. What sliders would you recommend I set down, to get a fluid frame rate (on a 8800M GTX/9800M GT P9500)?
