Unlike the numerous benchmark threads, just interested in what your OC is for stable gaming

What is stable gaming? Being able to game at that OC without any freezing, BSOD or crashes due to OC for at least 4 hours straight non-stop, everyday for a year.

Mine is 950 Core, 1375 Memory right now. I was able to game for 2 hours at 1000, 1400 then it froze, 950/1375 seems to be my sweet spot.

What kind of improvements are you seeing in terms of FPS?

You're wondering, is it worth it? Why not if it's running stable and at cool temperatures. Is it that big of a difference, not really.

Crysis 2 Benchmark (Adrenaline) 1080p, 4xAA + Laplace Edge Detection, HD Texture, DX11, Ultra quality
    Stock - 39 FPS
    1000/1375 - 46 FPS

Batman AC (Extreme Preset + MSAA 2X)
    Stock - 53 FPS
    1025/1375 - 57 FPS

Overall, not much. If it was running at say 92C whole time I wouldn't do it, but as is, it's running at around 75C in game for me with the OC, so I'm comfortable with it. The fan never goes on full.

I run 950/1400 with absolutely no issues. I could have gone higher (and did just to test it out) and stayed stable, but it wasn't worth the temp increase. Of course, now I'm on stock clocks since I can't get afterburner working with the 12.11 beta, but now my stock performance is so much better than my oc performance was with the stock driver, so it's ok!

Makes me wonder what makes more impact, OC the core or the memory? I can't OC on this card that much since it gets unstable, maybe someone who has a monster card can test it. OC on core vs OC on memory.

I do notice that from what I think is the most respected AMD series is the XFX Black Editions, their 7870 Black Edition is OC'd at 1050 Core and 1250 Memory, which is well below the memory OC on 7970M users. Makes me think core OC may make more of a difference.

Interesting, I never thought much about it. I always just upped the memory twice as much as the core, thinking it was a decent way of balancing it. Once I can get overclocking again, I'll definitely try some different combos out to see which one has more of an impact/which one becomes unstable first.

I game at 980mhz / 1.5ghz, it seems to be very stable, though I have yet to spend over an hour gaming with the new driver.

I have had my GTX 675M at 800, 1500 without any issues but it does heat up after a while. I haven't modded the cooling system at all though, so i eagerly await the cooling pad i am looking into, new thermal paste, and sealing up the exhaust vents (Plus several other things I am considering)

core OC definitely has more impact. normally, memory OC would only get u like 1-2% of a perf. boost, but with the 7970M its a bit different, since we see about 5%-8% additional performance when adding a memory OC. when ure testing for a stable OC i would always start out with the core first and check which would be the highest stable clock for it, while leaving the memory at stock clocks. once u found ur sweet spot for the core, up the memory while keeping the core at the stable OC clock. that way u get way more of a performance gain than doing it the other way round (OC mem first, then core).

as for clocks, ive done a lot of benching and gaming with 1045/1485 so far, no issues that i could detect. but i must say that im always using Fn+1 when putting serious load onto cpu + gpu :)

    cheers

So it seems extreme OC is more stable on HM than on EM so far.

I'm using 950/1400 on a daily basis playing games, for benching sometimes higher clocks

I'd probably OC on a regular basis but I'm pushing 85+ degrees at stock clocks as it is during heavy gameplay.Definitely on the hot side even though I repasted with Arctic Silver when I got the laptop and I use a Notepal U3 cooler.. I'll probably repaste with something better next time I clean out the inside of my laptop.

1000/1560 here i could go even higher on memory and why not with and without OC makes 1-2 °C difference but i modded my backplate a tiny bit to get the bottom more up, so air can circulate bit better, difference is amazing

For me, overall Windows 8 is more stable. I'm currently gaming in Borderlands 2 and ME3 and just finished up Fear3 Co-Op at 1000/1400. Stable with BF3 also.

But still can't do the extreme OC, BSOD/Freeze. Anyway, happy with my OC that is stable.

it doesnt worth to oc-with the new 12.11beta drivers you can play any game you want at ultra and good fps.
    for example bf3 multy,at 45-60fps
if in the future they make a game more demanding then yea take it to the limits baby..... :D

Sleeping Dogs you play in windowed mode and everything on Ultra. Will be very disappointed with your overclocking) GPU load is 99%. My stable overclock 950/1275 at all the tests and the 1000/1500 here and so)
Although you may luckier than me)
