I'm thinking of purchasing the Sager NP7680 laptop, which comes with the nVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS video card. I have an Acer laptop now, that has a nVidia GeForce 9100M G video card, however video playback is terrible.
Trying to watch anything from Hulu.com at full screen is very choppy. And forget about watching the higher def video option - it's just brutal. Even when it's not full screen. Any fast action, or horizontal panning will cause the choppy motion.
Anyway, does anyone have this laptop? Or another with this same video card? If you do, could you test out the video playback at hulu.com and let me know if it's any better on the 9300?
Thanks.

HULU is streaming... so if its choppy, it might be due to your internet connection.
Another thing is that streaming videos (flash-based) is more CPU oriented than GPU.
I can watch HULU fine with my old Athlon XP workstation using Nvidia Gerforce 4 TI 4200.
Make sure to set your Power Options (in Windows) to Max Performance, and set your Powermizer settings to Max Performance (or disable it all together)
and have you tried to watch the video with another browser? (Firefox 3, Opera, etc.) -
That's an interesting point that it's more CPU, than GPU. The Acer has an Athlon 64 X2 1.9GHz, which isn't that great, but I would think it would be enough to handle hulu. But maybe not?
My internet connection is cable - 6 meg down & 1.5 up. So I don't think it's that. But the laptop is connected wirelessly, so maybe I'll give it a try while over the wired connection.
I'll let you know what I come up with.
UPDATE:
I just upgraded to Firefox 3 and the latest version of flash (ver. 10) and playback is WAY improved. So thanks for the tip.
I'm confident the Sager NP7680 will easily be able to handle the playback now.
